I see Martineau got 3 games and Svechnikov got 2 games suspension. Svechnikov should be 5 and Martineau should be one or less. I agree, what Schechnikov did is a lot more dangerous than what Martineau did. In fact when I watched the fight, there was no clear "removing of the helmet", maybe if you look more closely...but still.

Nobody that has seen the fight has ever posted anything to suggest that they saw Martineau yank the helmet off. IMO, it just popped off as helmets do in a fight.

I think it is simply because of th injuries. Holwell was not injured ... Garland was. IMO injuries should never come into it. It is the act that should get punished ... the outcome on Svechnikov's hit could have been career ending ... but Holwell somehow dodged a bullet. Players will get injured in less violent hits and get more than 2 games. Svechnikov's hit was violent and seemingly on purpose. He had all sorts of time to avoid and he chose not to. He was intent on putting Holwell through the boards. Considering injuries is a very flawed approach. The absence of injury does not soften a violent act. I guess the league wants the players to dole out the punishment. Svechnikov better not turn his back on anybody near the boards. Bower, Weiderer and MacEwan were suspended one game each for fights in the last 5 mins. Did CB get the same suspensions for the guys they fought ? Wiederer and Leveille both got 1 game for second fight in the same stoppage, Bower and McEwan were instigator and agressor of their fights, therefor the CB players didn't get a suspension, even if it was in the last 5 min of the game. theqmjhl.ca/suspension-and-fines-2015-16/If the suspensions had been one sided as some people wanted it would have been a shit show in the next game as one team would feel untouchable over the other team I agree that Bower was ... he went after LeBlanc after the hit from behind on Crossman and had him down and was still fighting. But MacEwan was not the Instigator in his fight ... and after his dance partner (can't recall who it was) was down on the ground he let go and skated away.
