This team doesn't get past round 1 the way they are going. You'd have to win 4 games to get past round 1. I think they will right the ship at some point. The thing is, if they stay in 6th(being top 3 will be hard with SJ up 1 and with 3 in hand), they could easily end up with a tough matchup like Char or CB in round 1 depending on how those teams finish, Sherbrooke could also be a handful. SJ has 19 games left, if they play for slightly above .500(winning %) and go 10-6-3, that gives them 91 points. WC would have to go at least 24 points in 16 games to beat that...12-4 or 11-3-2. They have a 3 game trip in Gatineau VD and RN that won't be fun in 3 weeks... The Cats best chance is to sweep the two head to head games in regulation. For what it's worth I believe SJ have a 3 game trip through Quebec with stops in Shawinigan, Val D'Or, and Rouyn Noranda

The WC need to make up a fair bit of ground, basically 5 or 6 points over 16 games.

Neal Hodge calls the hit on Garland dirty...did anybody get a good look at it? To me it looked like a clean hit but he was off balance at the time so he made a pirouette.

The puck was gone so long, it was almost definitely interference. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets reviewed. If it was any other player, it gets called. But Gatland was diving all over the place, can't blame the refs for ignoring him. That said, the hit on Turcotte was 100% intended to knock him out of the game. The player didn't even really shoot, just let the puck roll in, and led with his forearm. I'm guessing Del Paggio plays again before Smith.

Bad quality video and Donaghey is kind of in the way to get a great look at it but better than nothing.

Unfortunately, the way hockey is set up, in the "finish your check" culture, that hit isn't really late. If he gets suspended it's because they feel garland was hit in the head. Look at every time Cormier or Pickard(add any 4th line banger) hit somebody, the puck is usually 20-40 feet away at the time.

The game was 1-0 at that time and Smith has a partial breakaway ... he is 100% trying to score. I do think there was some intent in his actions once his scoring chance disappeared and he wasn't going to avoid colliding with at least the net ... but he had every intention of trying to score at that moment. I can see Smith getting 5 games if Turcotte misses the next game ... and maybe 3 if he is good to go. I won't defend his actions as I thought there was intent when it occurred, but he didn't have any place to go once he got to the net ... still it was intentional. The hit on Garland was a late hit and was a targeted head shot ... and Garland was in a vulnerable position ... and it apparently broke Garland's cheek bone (not sure if that is confirmed yet). It was really no different than what Patrice Cormier did in the Q back in 2010 ... but Garland wasn't left convulsing on the ice. They may decide to really hit Del Paggio hard if all that is determined to be fact. Could be 10 games minimum ... could be rest of regular season ... or the Q could blow it and give him 2 games and make it worth the suspension to take out the league's top scorer.

Clearly a head shot ... you can stop the video at the exact frame to see it.

That Smith video needs to be rolled back about 10 seconds to see the approach.

Nothing broken and no concussion for Garland according to the T&T. Should be in the line-up tomorrow.
That likely saves Del Paggio from any significant suspension.

It was given an interference call because he didn't have the puck ... doesn't matter how late or early it is.

That Smith video needs to be rolled back about 10 seconds to see the approach. There are multiple angle replays in that video that show that.
