The red hot Seadogs visit the struggling Wildcats tonight. The two teams are going in opposite direction with the Wildcats on a 5 game losing streak and the Seadogs being unbeaten in regulation in their last 14 games.
The Seadogs can officially pass the Wildcats in the standings tonight and they'd still have 3 games in hand. Pretty big game for the Wildcats.
They've come out flat the last few games and there's really no excuse to do so tonight. If you can't get up for a game with the division on the line then what can you get up for?
Hoping the Cats can bounce back and squeeze out a win.
Tesink should be out of the lineup tonight and KK34 is a game time decision.

It's pretty much a must win for the Cats...if they fall behind plus SJ has 3 games in hand, it's like being 4-5 points back.

Should see a good game, I won't predict outcome but am sure Cats will pull out all stops/punches tonight. They have to as a lopsided victory for the red hot "Dogs" will be a major setback. Hope all Cat players show up for this important game.

Mann-Dixon gets the start.
Klima, Bower, Tesink are all still sidelined. Wiederer's got a couple of games left on his suspension.
Mika Cyr called up wearing number 24 on the first line with number Garland and Askew.

Cats didn't play a great 1st but lead 1-0. SJ had 2 pucks on the goal line that could have gone in. Cats D turned the puck over too much...

Christ we should have kept our own first round pick. At this rate it will be a higher pick then Victoriaville. These are some dire circumstances here. Never thought I'd write these words.... No offense? Two good games in net , defence played well.
You have hodgie writing these articles on our ability to only win 7-6 games, we lower our goals against in our last three at least but now can't score.. When it rains it pours. Wish we hadn't make the trades at all

Wish we hadn't make the trades at all ...and Rumble starts Dixon instead of the "#1 goalie" acquired by his GM and endorsed by the goalie coach. Those must be fun meetings... Can't use injuries as an excuse, a couple of the games we beat SJ they had 6-7 guys out, including 2-3 all star caliber players.

Not much to say at this point. They can go on and on about the "effort was there" and players are missing, but the facts are this - The Cats traded away a bunch of draft picks to "get better" and have been one of the worst teams in the league since the trade period ended. In fact I'm pretty sure only Baie-Comeau, Halifax and Quebec have been worse.
Reminds me a bit of 2004-05 when they held first in the division for a large chunk of the season, made some questionable decisions at the deadline (bringing back Caron, dumping Salvis) and watched Halifax blow by them. I have a feeling Roger Shannon will be meeting a similar fate to that of Allan Power.
Hope Turcotte is ok and same for Garland as well.

Oh well. Hopefully be able to hang on to second place in the Division, post-season, unless bleeding stops, gone in first round.

I keep reading Rumble talking about how they have to reduce the goals against. Well, they've done that the last few games, but at the expense of offense. This is not a defensive team - it's not built that way, and even though Rumble was an NHL defenceman, to me he doesn't coach a defensive system (we saw enough of that in the Flynn years to know). We're not a contender, and the trade period is over, so, to me, you build on your strengths. The strength of the team is offense, so let them play that style. If they give up 4 goals a game, so be it - there are 18 games left in the regular season, way too late to try to learn a defensive system now.
Second rant - almost seems as if there's a negative influence in the dressing room since the trades. If that's true, they need to get rid of it, whether it's one of the players we paid too much for (which is all of them except Donaghey), or someone who's been there all year. One of the best things the team did a few years ago to improve was to send Kabanov home.
I don't think the team gets past the second round no matter what, so I'd rather see them play an entertaining, offensive game.

You'd have to win 4 games to get past round 1. I think they will right the ship at some point. The thing is, if they stay in 6th(being top 3 will be hard with SJ up 1 and with 3 in hand), they could easily end up with a tough matchup like Char or CB in round 1 depending on how those teams finish, Sherbrooke could also be a handful. SJ has 19 games left, if they play for slightly above .500(winning %) and go 10-6-3, that gives them 91 points. WC would have to go at least 24 points in 16 games to beat that...12-4 or 11-3-2. They have a 3 game trip in Gatineau VD and RN that won't be fun in 3 weeks... The Cats best chance is to sweep the two head to head games in regulation.
