I have liked the play of Juulsen Mete and Reilly so far this preseason. I think that doesn't bode well for a guy like Benn. I think they'll try and trade him but he may end up as a veteran in Laval.
Domi is getting a look at C, if he sticks there it would free Drouin back up to play LW.

I don't agree with what he did, and he should be suspended. ...but some are piling on, using this to get on their anti fighting soapbox. 1-Domi is very far from a goon. 2-he didn't just randomly go up to a guy and sucker him, they had an altercation going on and apparently(I did not see it) Ekblad slashed him behind the legs to start the whole thing.

Because it's the perfect anti fighting situation. Star player with past concussion issues was sucker punched by a guy for no apparent reason. A slash to the back of someones legs does not warrant a dropped glove punch to the face like that and the league needs to make examples of players doing that stuff. The fact that it happened in a meaningless pre-season game and was an interaction between 2 guys with literally absolutely nothing to gain from the game itself even furthers the reason for the anti fighting crowd to use it as an example because Ekblad never should have had to expect that punch to the face and Domi had no reason to deliver it. If it's about an eye for an eye retribution then give him a whack to the legs in return. To punch him like that was uncalled for. Even more so because of it being a pre-season game in September. If Florida had a goon on their bench then that game could have got really ugly really fast after that punch. Thankfully the league is doing in the other direction now and only a handful of teams have anything resembling a goon on their bench now and there was no escalation after the punch. Domi isn't a goon but he what he did was a goon tactic that has no room in the game. But in no way did any altercation leading up to the punch come any way close to deserving a punch like that. Especially to drop the glove and do it. Could have literally KO'd him and taken him out for months. All for a slash to the leg that Domi will have happen literally ever shift he plays this season.

You're looking at it with logic taking a huge step back. Most people react differently in the heat of battle after somebody's hacked them. You don't have 15 minutes to think about it being preseason and that you don't want to get suspended and such.

Strong outing last night against a fairly good Washington lineup. They only gave up around 15 shots. I thought Schlemko looked good, he played a lot of minutes in every situation and moved the puck well, used an active stick to break up plays. The two Czech FA's had a solid game. Ouellet had a couple of flashes. Up front, Kotkaniemi had a couple of nice rushes, then Danault-Gallagher-Tatar line was the best one in the game.

You don't have 15 minutes to think about it being preseason and that you don't want to get suspended and such. These players in amazing physical shape need 15 minutes to know its pre season in September and to not punch someone in the face with a bare hand? I don't quite buy that. Reacting in the "heat of battle" by dropping your glove and punching someone in the face means you're in the wrong and deserve punishment. If Ekblad was willingly engaged and willing to fight then sure blast the anti fighting crowd for their agenda. But this just helps their agenda because there's no room in the sport for that kind of stuff. A whack to the leg isn't deserved of a punch to the face. That logic needs to be removed from the sport. No room for it. Whack him back. Ask him if he wants to fight. Move on. If you're that worked up about a whack in September how do you handle a real pressure situation in March or April? There's even less time to process your actions and the situation in real game action especially as the intensity rises. If all it takes is a Kadri whack to make him that enraged on opening night you're going to have a hard time with him as your #1 center. He needs to show better composure and know the situation.

Kotkaniemi is looking real good so far He has all the tools to be a #1 NHL center. Still needs to add some weight and improve without the puck, but he has the things you can't teach. His hockey sense and anticipation is excellent. I would send him back to the FHL for another year then keep him in NA next year(NHL or AHL)

The LA trade fell apart and he ended up in LV.
