Barring any last minute changes, here is what the Habs lineup will look like to start the season…
Goalies Price Kkinkaid Defense Weber Chiarot Petry Kulak Folin Mete Reilly/Alzner Forwards
Gallagher Domi Tatar Armia Danault Drouin Lehkonen Kotkaniemi Byron Weal Cousins Thompson
Hudon/Peca/Weise
Changes from the 96 point team in 18/19… Drop Shaw Drop Benn Add Chiarot Add Cousins
The two biggest factors this season will be having Weber healthy all year and not missing camp/preseason plus the possibility of guys like Juulsen Brook Suzuki Poehling joining the team and making an impact.

A PTO would make sense. Gives you a chance to see the other wingers in camp. I could see him with Domi and Drouin until guys like Suzuki are ready.

Sure a PTO is fine if they actually give him a contract of more than a year i'll be pissed he started strong last year and was invisible for pretty much the entire second half (18 points at the end of November.... wound up with only 31) would be a very bad signing IMO

As long as MB doesn’t sign Gardiner to a contract I’ll be happy, patience is key with the Habs. IMO they are a couple years away from being a good team, I’d hate to see them throw that away with another Alzner type signing.....

On the surface, Gardiner would be a very good fit at the correct number, the main concern is his back, which may be why he isn’t signed yet. My guess it he is getting 2-3 year offers and he wants 5-7 year offers. I heard he is waiting for Toronto, but the only way they can fit him(approx. 5.5M to 7M) is to move Nylander or another of their core guys. Assuming Marner gets 10M, they have no cap room.

I guess a 2 year deal wouldn’t hurt my feelings but that’s about as long as I’d want it to be. I’m sure he thinks he’s worth 7 years at 7 mil/year 🙄

Unfortunately for you that looks like a mid-80's point team to me. I've read all your reasons as to why you can be optimistic that they can maintain their total from last year, especially with hopefully a healthy Webber all year long, but I disagree. I think your Habs take a step backward as things stand right now. That could change if they add a few player upgrades though.

They are a pretty young team with others on the way.

I think they slightly overachieved last year and are too reliant on Price, if he struggles or the young guys down progress/struggle, they’re in a not so great spot. Now we could say this about a lot of teams, so I don’t think it’s a reason to be concerned but I think they’ll take a step backwards, just because I think they overachieved and others teams got better/under performed last year.

Price had a pretty mediocre 1st half last year, maybe in part due to Weber missing a lot of time. He only got going in January. There are teams in the East who are very likely to drop, like NYI(who lost their All star goalie) and Carolina(who had everything go their way). For the Habs, having Weber healthy all year instead of coming off no off season should make a big difference. Kinkaid should be a huge upgrade on what Niemi was last year.
