I think it ends .......it what happens with Ron MacLean that has me curious . on day one when Roger's bought the rights they kept Don and Ron just to win over people in the transition. Roger's already had some hockey before they made the big move but were interested in owning all the names for their big deal. They had grandiose plans but did not have Ron Maclean as host at first and created hometown hockey for him. When they failed (or Strombolopolus) did not catch fire on the main Saturday HNIC broadcast they still had MacLean and used him again as a host. The real question is what is MacLeans real value in the billions of dollars they have tied up in this. What their biggest mistake was from the start was having like 12 guys involved in hosting their coverage until they whittled down to what Saturday Night is now. I think that Roger's expected that by this time they could have swayed some more strong Canadian name hosts. But they were never able to pry guys away from TSN that they want most like Bob MacKenzie who just signed his sunset deal to retire af Bell Media. I dont think they ever expected Ron and Don to still be going this long. It doesnt kink their plans terminating Cherry and they must have some plan in place for post-MacLean. It likely involves making Tara Sloane the main host. Rogers took me right out of enjoying NHL hockey. They made it boring and I just stopped watching it. I barely follow the NHL anymore and might catch a half period every couple of weeks if I can't find anything else to watch. The only time I really start to watch is when one team has three wins in the Stanley Cup final. I enjoy the CHL product much better.

I don’t watch hockey on Tv for the between periods stuff though if there are big rumors or a big trade I would switch over to hear the satellite hot stove or friedman/Kypreos/Burke on Rogers and McKenzie and co on TSN. Having the rights at TSN or Rogers changes nothing in my life.

Ask yourself what do u watch on trade deadline day and on July 1. I have my TV on TSN those days from cover to cover. Sportsnet can try and imitate but cant replicate what they do at TSN for covering breaking hockey news like trades and free agency.
I watch my NHL hockey on my phone now. And when the intermission starts I go do something else and come back in 18 minutes for the next period.

Ferraro is the best at giving a player’s perspective and overall insight, Lebrun some of the same. I always liked Kypreos. Burke has been a strong add for Rogers. I have no use for McGuire and Hodge.

The Interviewer David Menzies makes reference to Trudeau and Cape Breton's own Jaime Battiste ......After watching this I am pissed that Sportsnet asked Cherry to make no comment for 48 hours but yet the Night before Ron MacLean jumps on Hometown Hockey ( obviously with Sportsnet's Blessing ) and does an End Around ......Shame on you Ron !

This just isn't going to die, eh? The Trudeau comparisons are laughable. Trudeau was in an election that was essentially a 2 horse race where his opponent decided to shit on womans and LGBTQ rights. Blackface 20 years ago ended up being a non factor because of the politics of his right wing opponent. Cherry has been a loud mouth for 50 years and constantly offending different groups. Put Cherry in an election against Scheer and Cherry would probably win, too.

When you go after different races/cultures the good you do does get forgotten. I've been trying to avoid using extreme analogies with this case all week. But whether sporting or political there are many cases of people who did some good things in the world having their perception changed due to stupid comments or actions. The laundry list of things Cherry has said over time about Women, French hockey players, European hockey players, Russian hockey players, other cultures in general is embarrassing...all in the name of spouting some Canadian superiority that really only exists in his mind. We are a great hockey nation. His notion/belief/attitude that we're the ONLY nation who cares. ONLY nation who works hard. ONLY nation who raises well spoken and amazing people. That stuff got old when I was a child. Listening to it as an adult is nauseating. Hockey is played all over the world by great people in many countries. In our country we should want to accept new Canadians and non-traditional hockey playing cultures into our sport and try and encourage participation and growth for all people IN Canada. Whether you're actually Canadian or not is not relevant with any of this and never has been. If you are in this country you deserve way more respect then a Don Cherry thinks you do. And because of his attitude towards those people we need to work even harder to involve those people in the sport of hockey that in case anyone hasn't noticed isn't exactly growing or showing encouraging signs at the grass roots level outside of our major population centers. You can be a proud Canadian. Just stop turning that into Xenophobic remarks about people who you assume are not Canadian due to their skin color which is what Cherry did in this situation and why he's no longer entitled to his Saturday evening soapbox.

Unfortunately that isn’t what has come through in his Saturday Night rants the last 20-25 years. Not when he has attacked Quebecers, Europeans and women.

Bobby Orr saying that is like Gretzky deciding to Coach in Arizona. He tarnished himself because we all know that isn't true ... his star has dimmed a little now. I don't think you'll find any hockey fan in the world that doesn't see Cherry as a bigot, long before this incident.

You are saying blackface was alright 20 years ago but at that time anyone who wasn't a complete moron knew it wasn't ok. Scheer's opinion on same sex marriage was basically everyone's view back then, even the looney left when they were a little less looney. "Shit on woman's rights"? Woman's rights has not been an issue for decades until the Liberals brought it up during the election so they could scare simple people in to voting for them.

Learn how to read, please. I never once said blackface was ok. I said in comparison to Scheer's issues it became a non-factor in the election. And yes Scheer chose during a winnable election which was a laughable thought just 18 months ago to double down on his abortion/LGBTQ beliefs when if he even tried just a little tiny bit to come off as progressive and modern he easily wins a majority government. It will go down as one of the biggest political missteps of our life time. Literally just had to say abortion is a womens choice based on the Supreme Court and our Charter rights and that he'll walk in a parade and he let his own spite for those 2 subjects cost him running the country. He managed to somehow trump blackface and SNC Lavalin with his own arrogance towards his own right wing views. He Patrick Stefan'd a federal election.

The whole "blackface" thing is a bit much. We have conservatives who are either blatant racists or voted for a blatant racist making a big deal about a guy dressing up as Aladdin 20 years ago...irony just died!
