“Cancel Culture” and political correctness claim another victim.
Rogers is a joke , they are scared of losing advertising dollars because of a remark but have no problem whatsoever taking money from Huawei, a Chinese company run by China that is stealing intellectual property everywhere it goes not to mention run by a regime that is shooting unarmed protesters in Hong Kong and running actual concentration camps in Western China.
Oh and Huawei also does business with Iran, that is why their crooked CFO got arrested in BC and subsequently two Canadians are being held in retaliation by that fascist country.
It is pretty bad when a sportscaster is held to a higher standard than our Prime Minister- Rogers is a joke and Canada is as well for that matter.

This was just the last straw ... Cherry has been on thin ice for a while. At his age, he probably should have retired gracefully years ago, but you kind of knew this is how it would end at some point. For those arguing freedom of speech, sure Cherry can say whatever he wants, but that doesn’t mean his employer needs to stand behind him and provide him a pulpit. Sportsnet just decided he was no longer worth the hassle ...

Rogers couldn't have waited until tomorrow ? Yeah it was real classy of Rogers to fire him on Remembrance Day. The day he’s fired on is irrelevant. Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, his birthday it doesn’t matter. I’m surprised it took him so long to be fired, there was a time when he could say those things but not now. Others have adapted, he unfortunately shows his age with his comments and it’s just no longer acceptable. When I think HNIC, I’ll always think Don Cherry but he’s a guy past his prime that should have been let go years ago. He’s stuck in a mindset from 30-40 years ago and the game isn’t that way anymore.

I wonder if Sportsnet has even considered this - the people who are pissed off about Cherry being fired actually watch HNIC and not the p***y social justice warriors who screamed for him to be fired?

Obviously you don't realize the connection between Cherry and The Military .....I understand ...believe me I understand it fully ....so to say the day of his firing is irrelevant .... is wrong .....trust me ...it's wrong . There are a lot of upset people in our Legion's right now ....Coast to Coast .

Don't you people have a safe space, or something like that, where you won't hear things you don't like or have people disagree with you. If I don't like what is on my TV I change the channel or get rid of the channel. Go to you safe place rather trying to have me banned for having opinion you don't agree with.

Trust me, I’m far from someone that needs a safe space. I don’t get offended by anything and I have no problem with anyone’s opinions. In fact, there’s many opinions that I have that I would never state in a public forum but with close friends/in the right context I would voice them. My biggest gripe isn’t with what he says but with how out of touch he is with hockey today. His opinions are his opinions and he’s welcomed to them but there is a time and place.. I love HNIC and always watch it, I enjoyed watching Don but I can also recognize the timing of what he says is not always acceptable. He’s supposed to talk about hockey to some degree but even his takes on that have gone south.

There may be upset people in our legions but would they be any less upset if it happened tomorrow or happened yesterday? I’m not sure.. I think people would be upset either way. Rightfully so to some degree but I just don’t agree that doing it today is any more significant then if they did it another day.
