baseball in general is so flawed.... i think this ruling is ridiculous...... but i respect those who think the game is still somehow pure and pristine and that this will do anything at all I don’t think baseball is pure or pristine but I think it will deter teams from cheating to this degree. I suspect every team is “cheating” in one form or another but they were so blatantly obvious about it that I think the MLB got it right with their ruling. For the image of the league, you had to do something and Rob Manfred made it clear after the Red Sox got caught that the next team to do it with technology would be punished heavily. I respect him for living up to the standard he set and following through.

If the punishment is GM AND manager suspended for a year + $5 mil fine + losing draft picks....shouldnt losing the championship just be painfully obvious?

Well worth the price of a World Series banner to literally every franchise owner in North America. Not 1 who wouldn't make that trade every single day as long as that banner stays right where it is.

Baseball has interference and obstruction calls ... basketball has fouls ... all because a player broke the rules and it is often intentional. I don't have a problem with this type of cheating because everybody is doing it in some way or another ... these teams got caught and now will pay the price. One of the teams is my team and I expect a stiff suspension to Cora.

so stealing is ok but using the evolution of technology to do it better is not? sure that makes sense you still have to hit the ball, catch the ball, make the right play on the field on the basepaths etc if you're going to allow technology to overtake everything else related to sport i don't see why this is such a big deal i also didn't really care about Pete Rose or the steroid era either tho Yes, but it is much much easier to hit a pitch if you know it is coming. Batting averages would sky rocket and you would not be watching anywhere close the same game. Nothing better than smashing something offspeed you know is coming. Without a runner on second, the only way to know what is coming is if a pitcher is tipping pitches. The only thing that can be relayed otherwise is location and there's ways to protect. you cant protect against video deciphering signs repeatedly. You can but it would slow the game down even more. You can change signs every batter much like with a runner on 2B.

It's the same as the Patriots and the taping of other teams coaches to steal defensive calls. I see a difference when technology is involved. having a runner at 2B decipher signs and give the hitter an edge, to me that's art of the game, when you start having somebody in a video room off the field and somebody banging garbage cans that crosses the line. Same thing for football, if you figure out the other teams play calls live, great, but having a bug in the opposing coaches room to steal signs/gameplan is something else.

No phone calls to a video room, no IPads on the bench, no head sets, nothing.

Allegedly the Astros were using buzzers from the video staff to tell them what’s coming for a pitch. This goes so deep it’s not even funny.
The other part I don’t like, is Mike Fiers who benefited from them cheating being the reason this whole investigation kicked off. He just threw a lot of teammates and friends under the bus, even though it’s not right to cheat the game, it’s not right to do that to your friends.

If we was anonymous the same details should have come out. But his speaking out is why cheating that way was so reckless. Did they all think they'd be a team forever and none of them would ever be on the other side of it? The more I think about that part of it the worse it all looks to me. It just seems like common sense that someone was going to leave and speak out about it. Should he have done so in the way he did? Probably not. But in a way I respect him for saying enough is enough and calling them on it even though he risked many peoples careers but in reality they did it to themselves. I don't think I would have had the guts to speak out like he did while being a player still. Would have been after my career before I spoke about it. But I think it would have come out eventually...the layers to this were too deep with too many people involved.

I don't think any of them are in any position to be lecturing Fiers on this, they were not tipping signs from 2B, they were part of a big conspiracy to break the rules.

Are you making that up, or is this based on something? Yeah this Astros stuff is extremely disappointing as a baseball fan. For these guys to go to that length to cheat is amazing. Especially Altuve who everyone loves.
