Apparently Altuve and Bregman were the main ones using these buzzers... The Red Sox had 2 way Radios installed in the ear flaps of their Batting Helmets . Why would they need 2-way radios ... so the batter could say "what was the pitch?" if he couldn't hear it over the crowd noise ?

Anything short of lifetime bans for this level of cheating is absurd.

Anything short of lifetime bans for this level of cheating is absurd. Agree. It has to be. Giving guys a 1 year ban or something like that would still make guys weight the risk of it. You are in your final year before free agency and a potential big pay boost. Maybe knowing every pitch is worth that risk? The league needs to send a message to anyone going THAT far to cheat. Clearly they would know it is crazy.

I think a lifetime ban is a bit much, they deserve to be punished and probably won’t be since the MLB has said they investigated the claim of buzzers on their body and found nothing to substantiate it. As far as they’re concerned it’s an open and shut case, the punishments have been handed out and players have been told to stop commenting on it. I think what’s clear here though, is that if Mike Fiers doesn’t go public with his claims (which I still don’t like) the MLB probably sweeps it under the rug and covers it up. Good on Fiers for forcing their hand because if he doesn’t, I bet nothing comes of it.

This level of cheating is unprecedented in sports in my opinion. This isn't steroids or doping, this isn't point shaving, it's much much much worse. This is far from over and the truth will come out. There's hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars that changed course because of this cheating and you can bet your ass the players on the other end of this will be launching a massive lawsuit, there will be deep investigations. This isn't over. Think of the LA Dodgers. Completely cheated out of a World Series appearance. Think of the pitchers the Astros faced while using this disgrace to sport? How many pitchers from Kershaw to Chapman to more importantly the fringe MLB pitchers that had their career trajectories changed forever because these players and the team behind them making this possible did the unimaginable and robbed the sport of it's purity. Altuve, Bregman, and whoever else was involved in this should be banned from the game forever and records erased. A message has to be sent.

Baseball has tolerated cheating for as long as it has existed ... one team tries to cheat, and the other team tries to fool them, while simultaneously trying to cheat themselves. It becomes a matter of degrees ... it appears the Astros took it further than anyone else (that we know of) but other teams were likely up to no good also ... I read a story today that Tony LaRussa has a centre field camera sending a signal back to the clubhouse as far back as the mid 80s.

Altuve, Bregman, and whoever else was involved in this should be banned from the game forever and records erased. A message has to be sent. Well first off, I think a lifetime ban on Pete Rose was and is excessive but he agreed to the ban in exchange for MLB not making a determination on whether he bet or not. Rose agreed to the punishment. As far is it being unprecedented.. just because they’re the first to get caught and it’s a new way of cheating, doesn’t make it any worse then the players that have been caught taking steroids since it’s become illegal or using corked bats or shaving points or any of the other things that have happened for the past 100 years. This is the modernized way of cheating, in 20 years it be something else that’s unprecedented and way worse then anything we’ve ever seen because the cheating is going to continue to evolve with technology. I 100% don’t expect there to be lawsuits that actually get anywhere amongst the players and as far as MLB is concerned this issue is over. Players aren’t going to be suspended over it because they’ve already determined it never happened. They also likely don’t want to get into a battle with the MLBPA over suspending players when there’s a CBA negotiation upcoming and there’s no doubt they’ll file a grievance if they are suspended. This is no different then all the players and teams who benefited from being on the juice for years and getting contracts they weren’t actually worthy of. It’s no different then all the players who had their stats affected by the players who were juicing, including those on the fringe that either never got a shot or had a short one because of players using steroids. The games purity has been lost for years, if you didn’t erase all of the records and ban the players who were previously cheating then you can’t suspend them for life and erase their stats now just because it’s a new way to cheat. If they come up with a rule now to ban it, then any player caught moving forward should be subjected to whatever punishments they come up with for the crime. To suspend them for life with no rules in-place against it would never fly and the players would likely end up winning any appeal.

When this first emerged felt there would be a rush on cheating stories from the past. Tonight read article on Jack Mcdowell accusing Tony Larussa and the White Sox. Expect to hear many more of these incidents in the weeks ahead.

I find that any suspension without players being suspended has no teeth. If you think they cheated, suspend them.

so the Jays essentially traded there best young starter for next to nothing because of cheating effectively giving another reason why the 2017 WS title should be stripped

Because that deal right now looks genius. Ryu+2 good pitching prospects for Stroman is how that has turned out in terms of money and assets. That's just smart managing.

They may never have even made it. You can argue that the Yankees would've been in the World Series that year.
