Who will the Habs look to add possibly tomorrow? Hall? Duclair? Back to back cup champ, Patty Maroon? Hall makes some sense. Still relatively young and would likely cost 7.5-8M instead of 10+ like he would have 2 years ago. Especially if hall is willing to go 1, 2 or 4 years. Colorado makes sense for Hall but it would have to be 1 year, they have a ton of guys coming up, BUT they will likely spend on a goalie IMO. They could use an upgrade there. They have 22M but have 4 fairly big RFA's to pay plus 4 or 5 more bodies. My guess is hall won't go to a rebuild regardless of money, he is tired of rebuilds, no Detroit Ottawa or LA. Maybe Nash but That's where skill players go to die(Johansson Duchene Subban Turris etc). Duclair to the Hbas is a non starter unless it's 1 year and cheap, i think somebody will pay him more based on last year 2 or 3 years at 4-5M. Calgary? LA? Fla? I think a few TB guys could work in Mtl...Palat or Killorn...TB tried to move Johnson and Killorn before the draft and it all fell through, they will get desperate, especially if Cirelli or Sergachev get offer sheets. TB will need TB's RFA's will require 12-14M, they have 4.5M plus only 3D signed. Gourde at 5.16M would be real hard to move. Smith or Tuch from LV if they really want Pietrangelo, they are already 3M over with 20 players signed. They will need major gymnastics, they tried to move Fleury at 50% with no takers, buyout coming? NYI will need to move or buy out somebody with Barzal and Pullock likely getting 14 to 15M plus Toews. Ny needs to shed 8 or 9M.

Would love to get Hall but not expecting it to happen Based on the current landscape...teams with cap issues and others with money issues, the market is better for than Habs than usual on July 1, I would say there are 4 or 5 teams really in the mix. The Habs could start the season with what they have plus a couple of depth 3rd or 4th line signings...or do that PLUS add a top 6 winger by UFA or trade, this could lead to Tatar being traded IMO. His value should be good but I'm not sure they want to sign him for 4-5 years at 6-6.5M. Too many small wingers. Mete is a guy I could see traded if they can get good value back...Romanov and Edmundson will push him from 5/6 to 7/8 with Ouellet Fleury and Juulsen(if healthy). He is an advanced stat darling with his transition game, if they can get a 2nd or more they may pull the trigger(more about getting max value than needing picks).

4-5 years at around 4-4.5M makes a lot of sense. Habs won't want to go 1 year, would make him a UFA. Domi signed 2 years at 10.6M...5.3M AAV...makes him a UFA in 20 months. Not ideal for CBJ, I would have gone 1 year at 5M-5.5M. How does 7 years, 5.5 million a year sound?

Pretty big contract to hand out to a guy coming off a 1 goal season in a flat cap
I love the player if healthy
But this is ridiculous

You hope it’s the latter if you’re paying that much.

I won’t use a bunch of hockey rhetoric like others do to try and pass themselves off as more than they are but I do firmly believe he’s a second line power forward if healthy.... very capable of 25-30 goals regularly.... but in this marketplace you don’t hand out 7 year deals to guys like Josh..... just my opinion and again I’m actually a big fan of the player

Especially coming off a 1 goal season, injury or not.

Glad he is 26 and not 30...but those last 3 years could be ugly...

You hope it’s the latter if you’re paying that much. I think he is definitely a top 6 guy, but he won't drive a line on his own, but provides lots of space for smaller/skilled forwards much like Wilson in Wash. It's not just one year, he had 19G in 63 games(25G pace) in 17-18. Plus he isn't a guy who just bangs rebounds, he scores off the rush with his shot. My main concern is staying healthy until 32.
