Hey, but they did get Schwarber, a below-average hitter with a little power and below-average defender who doesn’t play 1B !!! Things are looking great ! 🙄 I do predict a 4th place finish in the AL East. It’s a good thing the Orioles were already 30gms behind !! Schwarber is a below average hitter? You just flushed any credibility you had in the toilet with that one sentence. Although he had a great month of July before his injury, the guy has a .233 career bat avg and is streaky as hell and what the Sox need now is more consistency. They have enough inconsistent players as it is. However, if the Sox can convert him in a reliable 1B, it would definitely be quite an upgrade. Hard to imagine replacing Verdugo and Renfroe in the outfield corners without sacrificing the defensive coverage.

In the key stats, Schwarber is above average, his career OBP is .337, that puts him in a category where you can hit him top 3. He is also slugging a career .491 which is well above average for a .828 OPS, that's in the top 20-25% of hitters if not higher. I'm not expecting him to hit a HR every game, but he is also a guy that can help by getting on base and grinding out AB's, his doubles should go up at Fenway if he uses the Monstah. You can question the defense, though 1B makes a lot of sense for him, he was an adequate OF, but as you said, not as good as Renfroe and Verdugo.

Good to get everybody going with the bat, Eovaldi also looked great, now they have to string together a few games and a few series and get back on the right path.

RS are playing like dog shit lately. They need to stop all trying to be the hero at bat and put together quality AB's. Cora is not exactly coaching up the team either, starting JDM in RF to use Plawecki as DH and Vazquez at catcher. Starting pitchers are doing the job recently, time for the offense to wake up.

The race will go down to the wire. Overall a great year on the heels of what they had last year...lots of guys stepped in and filled what were holes last year. Hernandez Dalbec(red hot since Aug 1st) Arroyo Schwarber and Renfroe have been great additions to the lineup. The big question mark for next year should be to upgrade at C, Vazquez has had a bad year offensively and defensively.
Pitching wise there are more questions, Erod and Ottvino are FA's, Perez and Richards likely gone, though Richards looks really good in relief. Whitlock has been a revelation. Sale and Eovladi are both ace quality guys. Pivetta had a strong start but his velo is down a bit the last month, wonder if fatigue is an issue. Houck is a good option. Seabold is another option in AAA. I could see them go after a relatively big name SP.
In relief it will depend on Ottavino, they might also add a couple of arms with Whitlock likely a SP.

RS seemed to have weathered the stop after 11 guys tested positive in a 2+ week stretch. Up 1.5 on Toronto and 2 on NY. Need at least 3/5 vs NYM(73-77) and NYY(84-67) this week. They finish with 3 at Balt(48-102) and 3 at Was(61-89) next week. If they miss the playoffs, it will be on them with only 3 of 11 games vs a team over .500. Toronto gets...2x tb 4x @ Min 3 vs NYY 3 vs Bal NYY gets...2x vs Tex 3 @bos 3 @ Tor 3 vs TB Oak and sea still have s hot but would need 2 teams in front to slide.

That was a sweet game to clinch the 1st Wild card. Pivetta was lights out in the 9th.

thank god for Devers
not expecting much more....... would be great to win the wild card game but honestly don't think we will
but for a team that i certainly didn't expect to even sniff a playoff game this year gives me something to do tomorrow night

Very talented team that doesn't always "play the right way" but they got it done despite a few too many walks with big leads, baserunning miscues and swinging for the fences as bad times.

Bogaerts is solid as always Martinez needs to be moved on from especially given he hurt his ankle at the worst possible time simply by attempting to jog out to the field the pitching is very erratic and i honestly have very little faith in any of them to lock things down but they are fun to watch cuz you do not know what to expect that's for sure haha
