What you see is what you're buying into. You can keep pretending its not the truth or you continue to spin things based on admitted ad algorithms pushing pro-Trump and anti-Biden rhetoric so of course thats your slant. The polls in toss up states change daily. There's a reason every US election for the last generation has come down to certain battleground states. Simply getting an extra 10% of a population out in X district can swing an entire state. Not 1 person here is saying anything about the races. Its about the clear propaganda led rhetoric around things like Biden's age...what you were calling his "dementia" last week. The more people say shit like "are you SERIOUSLY not seeing/hearing anything negative about Trump?" you seem to ignore it as if it's not being said. Why do you seem to completely ignore those comments? You're doubling and tripling down on Biden while not acknowledging your own bias (did you know he's stuttered for his entire life?) and only reinforcing the Trump nonsense as viable. I can both think Trump can win an election and that he's an absolute piece of garbage criminal who shouldn't be anywhere near an election based on his own actions during the time he was President and not even taking decades of other nonsense into account such as rapes, fraud, etc. But lets keep walking that fine line and pretending we're completely unbias and not influenced by an echo chamber of youtube video's. I'm not buying into anything - LOL. Biden wasn't charged with document retention because "there was little chance of a conviction due to his memory loss and inability to recognize the seriousness of the charges." That's some stutter. That's the Faux News version. Clear cheap shot by Hur. Biden like Pence found top secret docs and voluntarily turned them over and willingly participated in the investigation. Trump on the contrary refused to turn them over, lied about what he had and moved documents to prevent them from being recovered.

Yeah and there are still rumblings that there are still documents that Trump hasn't handed over and with him owing close to half a billion dollars potentially that he is compromised and should not been in a position of power at all.

I wish parties did this more often. I get party loyalty and all, but you want the best person for the job to have everything run smoothly. If McGuire is the best one for that position, it's definitely the right call then.

Want to elect certain ideologies but will also vote for a party if I think my area can benefit from being on a certain side. Party crossing mid term basically slaps all your voters in the face. McGuire and most other provincial politicians win their seats because of the banner they represent. Not because they themselves can offer any sort of change. I have no issue with McGuire wanting to cross the floor. Just have a by-election and run as a PC candidate and let your constituents decide what party they want representing them. Otherwise its a complete backhand to every voter in his riding and yet another reason why many simply choose to not participate in the process.

My bad, the post made it sound like despite being in an opposition party, he was still appointed to that role. But I get what you mean and I feel the same way. I wouldn't want to vote for a Liberal candidate only for them to switch mid term for the Conservatives. Especially if it was at the federal level and the party they go to totally goes against my own beliefs. It's slightly less of an issue at a provincial level and municipal at least on PEI doesn't have parties that I know of anyway.

In this case the NS provincial Liberal and PC parties are closely aligned in many ways. It would be more extreme to see an NDP MLA cross to another side. But I still don't like the look of it. Or any aisle crossing when there's party ideology and campaign dollars being used to go against the wishes of the voters. And he may run as an independent or opposing party member and still win. But ultimately the people in that riding should have that choice to make, not the Premier and an opposing MLA.

The current leader of the Liberals on PEI was initially elected as a conservative .... now he's been reelected twice i believe running as a liberal but still he did in fact cross the floor after his initial win.

Not soon enough, but Mitch McConnell is finally stepping down in November. Should've happened after the first media freeze episode he had. At least that's one stubborn old man out of the picture.

He did almost as much damage to democracy as Trump by stacking the courts, refusing to let a vote on Merrick Garland for a year then rushing through a last minute SC add when Ginsberg passed away.

Anyone still using terms like "sleepy joe" or referencing things like dementia after tonight?
That was a bit of a mic drop SOTU by the President. For someone people are trying hard to prove should be wheeled into a home that was definitely someone who sounded more competent and maturer than his opponent has over the last few years.

Given the mess he inherited from Trump, he's done a good job. I'm not totally convinced Trump gets in again either. Legal issues aside, I think the traditional Republican voter is just very turned off by his policies and attitude. Sadly here though, I think Poilievre wins easily. Given some of the things he's saying, I'm nervous for what my future could be like with him making the calls as a likely majority lead Prime Minister.

He nailed a lot of the key points and decisions the US is facing right now. He even pushed back on GOP heckling in real time on the huge Trump corporate tax cuts and GOP not letting the border bill even get a vote in the house. I think Trump was always facing an uphill battle with the Roe decision and his mountain of legal problems, the SOU speech by Biden put him further behind the 8 ball.

The headwind for the GOP in 2024 is that women have voted in huge numbers since Roe was overturned. Dems are outpacing the polls in every election since. The GOP trump card is the border and Biden/Dems if they play their cards right, can turn that into a wash after Johnson refused to put the border bill to a vote.
