Alexander๐ฆ @allexander321 ยท 14h 4 men are criminally charged for conspiring to murder RCMP officers during the convoy protest at Coutts? Same guys connected to Diagolon Jeremy MacKenzie who shook Poilievreโs hand with glee? And people still think PP is PM material?

- Conservatives up 1% taken off People's Party which is down 1%.
- Liberals down 3% but NDP down 1% as well- presumably you can say BQ took 1% from the Liberals in Quebec and other left wing support going to the Greens.
- there has to be some odd rounding going on here because the negative numbers are more than the positives as far as trend goes.
I don't think we'll see an election anytime soon, the numbers aren't anywhere near favourable for Justin to engineer an election, there are signs of his support falling in Quebec and a recession is most likely as the BOC has to increase interest rates to get inflation under control.

Jeff Rybak๐ @jeffrybak ยท 2h Watching Poilievre complain about the angry, conspiratorial, alternative-reality right-wing base the #CPC has cultivated is like watching the Insane Clown Posse turn on their #Juggalos. #cdnpoli

He lost me forever when he told the country that cryptocurrency is how to avoid inflation. He sure does love appealing to those who have distanced themselves the most from reality after the last 2-3 years. If he managed to avoid the insane shit he loves dipping his feet into and came even slightly to the center he'd probably win a majority government right now. But I really do think we're in for a decade of Liberal/NDP coalition governments.

Most people see them as entitled a-holes who want to play victim while the other 90+% follow the rules to protect the more at risk members of society.

To be quite honest I believe people who would vote against Poilievre due to his relationship with the Freedom crowd weren't gonna vote for him anyways, they are hardcore Liberals and/or NDP.
The next election is three years away which is a lifetime unless Singh withdraws his support but the only sign of that so far is him voting in favour of the audit of the ArriveCan app but that is an easy vote to make, a colossal waste of money likely going to Liberal donors and not a confidence vote. It gives Singh some cover for his party supporters ticked off at carrying the Liberals and enables him to tweet and continue doing Tiktoks slamming Trudeau and then voting to keep the status quo going.

If he managed to avoid the insane shit he loves dipping his feet into and came even slightly to the center he'd probably win a majority government right now. But I really do think we're in for a decade of Liberal/NDP coalition governments. I was away for the first half of 2022 so I missed out, and luckily so, the freedom convoy and the context of his remarks about crypto.
My opinion on the convoy is that not every person there was an alt-right fascist trying to overthrow the government- there were people there with legitimate complaints...... BUT ...... the timing of it was foolish, you could see that most Covid measures were on the cusp of being withdrawn within weeks back then so there was no point in doing it if your goal was to have covid measures withdrawn. The problem with these protests is that it attracts the crazies and you know a Confederate flag is going to make an appearance at some point and it doesn't matter if it was a plant or not. the media is going to run with it irregardless.
There is a lot of room available for him to come to the center as today's Liberal Party is not even close to the Liberal Party of 20 years ago which is a party that I could vote for even as right of center voter.
I know the video is long, 27 minutes, but IMO he provided a concise diagnosis of the way things are in Canada and practical solutions to them.
By the time 2025 comes up the Trudeau government will have been in power for 10 years which is traditionally the end point for most governments as they wear out their welcome.
If there is a economic downturn due to rising interest rates that is going to fall on Trudeau as he is the one in charge.

A lot of hardcore PC supporters hate the new party turn, populism isn't conservatism. Some will hold their nose and vote anyway, but some will stay home. I think Polievre is not very popular with independent voters so that will be an issue as well(Charest was far and away more popular when they did polls pre convention). I see somewhat of a parallel with Trump, both can win their party's nomination but don't have enough support to win a general election. The NDP would be stupid to break from Liberals, it's the most power they have ever had.

I would be willing to bet that a lot more Canadians have been hurt by the 7.37% decrease in the TSX over the past year, the inflation caused by Trudeau's economic policies and resulting increase in mortgage rates than the number of Canadians who bought Bitcoin based on what PP said.
