Odd. They're not using the font that matches the number font for the captains letters anymore.

This seems like a lazy promotion. Not what anyone would see as creative ticket sales. I’m not a season ticket holder but I would be angry if I as a season holder paid more per ticket.

I mean in theory you pay more if you’re a season ticket holder but this isn’t being targeted towards a season ticket holder. You’re trying to get that young family of 4 out who maybe can’t or won’t do it at full price ($62 plus fees?) but will do it for $50. The kids from CBU who won’t pay $21 a ticket to a game but for $12.50 they will, then they buy the beer and concessions. This really only amounts to 8 or 9 games a year so if you’re a season ticket holder, you’re still getting a better deal on the 34 games overall that you get to attend. I personally think this is a solid promotion for them, make a Friday game affordable, when you might be able to get the college kids or youth and their families out to games. That’s the target audience. A creative one the Islanders do or used to do, was $4 student night (Thursday night), where the tickets were $4 and the beer was $4. Then you’d get free cover to The Factory after the game and it really got the student crowd out on a Thursday night. Now Sydney isn’t Charlottetown for night life but that’s one that I think more teams should copy.

A season ticket holder probably isn't bringing 3 friends with them. If as a season ticket holder you're actually mad about a promotion that promotes getting people out to the event you're buying a season pass for....can the team really make decisions based on your point of view? They're in survival mode here. Would you rather buy those season tickets in Membertou for Jr.B hockey? I agree this isn't a new promotion. But this is one where if it works....go back to it. We're probably talking only 20-30 groups actually utilizing it and an extra 100 tickets sold because of it. Its not like the rink is suddenly full because tickets are $12.50. Its not a deal for everyone but who cares if it gets people in the door.

Exactly, you need a group of 4 to activate this promotion, this has no bearing on a season ticket holder other then you may now have someone sitting within a pop corn throw of you.

I will say that as an adult that would face over $40 for 2 tickets....tossing in the extra few bucks to get 2 more tickets makes it seem like a more affordable night out. Now if they had a "date night for 2" type of package that appeals to adults they'd be making some bigger strides. 2 for $25 seniors tickets for examples. 2 for $50 deals including a canteen voucher. There has to be more they can do to make more of an effort to get people through the door.

It’s 6 promotional nights, if you make the ticket reasonably priced and make the beer reasonably priced, I think you could get a lot of people out and make some money. I know a lot of kids are drinking on a Thursday night anyways in university/college, why not try and turn that into something for the Eagles?

Especially after the NSCC campus opens up downtown...a weekday Tuesday-Thurday student promotion during the season would be a great idea. Or like you suggest...go all in on 1 day and hope the 5-6 nights over the season generates a bit more activity. I'd even partner with the students unions at these places to get tickets in the hands of people who are not from Canada and allow people who wouldn't normally be buying hockey tickets a chance to experience what a hockey game actually is. That free pair of tickets today could be a business owner sponsoring you in 5 years.

Absolutely, I know there’s a lot of university games I’ve seen where there are a lot of international students there. Not because they’re buying tickets but because they’re “free” and included in your tuition. Now when you see the same faces at a lot of games, there has to be an interest in the sport on a personal level, that you probably drummed up because they could go for “free”. That’s an untapped market, especially in a place like CB. You want to be drawing new faces in, get the tickets into the hands of people who wouldn’t normally be your target audience and you might gain some more supporters. Probably not season tickets but if they take in 5-10 games a year, why not try it? I know it wouldn’t be a big draw for a lot of students because the disposable income isn’t there but with the casino right there, I know for me and my buddies, as a young 20 something who liked to gamble, we would have had 5-10 guys go to these games (if the price is right), drink a fair number of beers and then probably hit the casino for a little action after the game a couple times a year. We could make a night of it and have a lot of fun. Weeknight games probably aren’t when you’re drawing out the family of 4 so why not try to get those college kids into the rink, they’re the type of group you might be able to draw in, especially on a Thursday when a lot of them don’t have classes on Friday.

There's a lot they can do while both A) Not devaluing their ticket to the already engaged ticket buyers and B) utilizing the 2000 empty seats they have every night to try and grow their brand. Our ticket buyers will also not care who is sitting around them if the team is winning lol But do things like partner with the University to do a game night and have a bus take those living in residence to the game and back to the school afterwards. There's boys and girls clubs in every community full of kids whose parents definitely can't get them the transportation to a from the game let alone buy a ticket and get something to drink while at the rink. To me every other business around them is a potential way to grow their brand but they certainly don't see it that way and I think a lot of it comes down to local politics unfortunately.

Figured I'd piggyback off this post and mention that Ivan has made Detroit's main camp as well.

If you're talking about multiple games over the season on a select night I apologize for being confused, if not what you're talking about here they've been doing for a couple seasons now already it's the CBU Night at the Nest game.
