Just a thought when you’re talking about getting people in the door for cheap so they can buy concessions.. I believe the CBRM owns and runs the canteens and that the eagles profit very little or none at all from this

The CBRM would also have good reason to want more people in the building as they also would make more if attendance was higher. The problem isn't who makes the money off X item in the rink. Its that there's little to no co-operation from anyone whether it be a partner directly effected by attendance like CBRM or a business that could see an indirect business spike on a game day such as local restaurants like the Steel City or Daniels.

There's a lot they can do while both A) Not devaluing their ticket to the already engaged ticket buyers and B) utilizing the 2000 empty seats they have every night to try and grow their brand. Our ticket buyers will also not care who is sitting around them if the team is winning lol But do things like partner with the University to do a game night and have a bus take those living in residence to the game and back to the school afterwards. There's boys and girls clubs in every community full of kids whose parents definitely can't get them the transportation to a from the game let alone buy a ticket and get something to drink while at the rink. To me every other business around them is a potential way to grow their brand but they certainly don't see it that way and I think a lot of it comes down to local politics unfortunately. If you're talking about multiple games over the season on a select night I apologize for being confused, if not what you're talking about here they've been doing for a couple seasons now already it's the CBU Night at the Nest game. I'm saying you have to do that stuff once per month not once per season. Hell you might find certain things can be done every night if there's enough support.

The team doesn’t sell out, if the seat is empty, it’s just straight up lost revenue. Get an ass in the seat for whatever price it takes and you’re better off then leaving it empty. You’re hope is that these cheaper tickets, drum up interest and they start taking in games at a regular price or become a season ticket holder. You’re bound to convert some of these people. Whether they really benefit from concessions or not, the team is better off having some value to the seat then they are it going completely unused.

Yep and nobody is saying to fill ALL the unused seats with free tickets. Its more of view say 25 tickets per night as an investment in the future and get those in the hands of people who would never normally come out...or people who just happen to win them while out for a 5:30/6pm meal on a game night at a local restaurant. This stuff is even more important now while you're building and have no expectations to win anything.

The best time is definitely now to grab some new fans, I feel as though there's some misconception that they've hit the limit in terms of exposing new people to junior hockey. As a season ticket holder I see new fans in the rink every year in Moncton, including new season ticket holders, and these are from varying demographics. Right now most cities in Atlantic Canada are seeing unpreceded growth, immigration from other parts of Canada and especially from other countries. When these people move here they are likely to start establishing new hobbies/interests right away. You need to get them exposed to the product before they find other interests which may conflict with going to games.

The growth is nothing any of us have ever seen but the teams market themselves like its still 2002 and every 17yr old is moving to Alberta within the next 3 years. There needs to be more done to introduce new Canadian residents to the sport and get them engaged a bit in it. Anyone living in the CBRM area knows how many different food options are available now from different cultures. That didn't happen overnight but its an example of how we are becoming more diverse and why the marketing from local businesses needs to change a bit to attract those entertainment dollars that they're going to miss out on if they stay on the same path. Take the equivalent of 2 season ticket vouchers....68 in total...and divide it up among those restaurants to use as a promotional tool for both sides. You might not win back hardcore fans who have been turned off but that doesn't mean there might not be other groups to target and try and get more interested in the product.

First thing they need to do is have the Friday night promo extended to include this coming Wed Night, which will likely be the home opener. A Wed night home opener is not ideal, but the brass need to put their thinking caps on real fast and get some fans in the building. Coming off the weekend we are about to see here in NS, no better time for a kick ass promotion to get people out. Families will have incurred several extra expenses as result of Fiona, the place will be empty at full value pricing.

True enough, I've always found it stupid the Eagles haven't tried to do more to attract NSCC and CBU students over the years.

I have a question around roster rules - in the case of guys like McCluskey/Bell who were waived but not claimed, do they remain on our protected list this season, or are they now free agents?

Depends on if the eagles released them from their protected list... honestly I'm a tad unclear on the rules there.

Just noticed Bell is playing in SJHL and off to a good start, so moot point there anyway. I'd imagine we have moved on from McCluskey entirely, but he's still playing nearby so I'm wondering if we would have bothered keeping him on the list.
