Red Names are ones that either are or could go NCAA route 20. Lane Sim—F—Pictou 5’07/141 33 16 29 45 (I am not sure if he decided to go OHL or not)This draft is a pretty strong and a deep draft...there are a bunch of top end talent that could decide NCAA route Seems like the Q thinks Sim plans to play in the QMJHL and not the OHL because they posted his highlights and said he’s a draft prospect: theqmjhl.ca/video/fenplast-qmjhl-prospects-lane-simI wonder why he would choose the Q (assuming he does) while his brother chose the OHL.

We will find out in a few days. The OHL Draft is on Friday and Saturday.

I found that odd too. I'm pretty sure he has already chosen to go the OHL route lol

Lane Sim has chosen to go the OHL route The Scouting News www.thescoutingnews.com › article › archive Lane Sim has chosen to go the OHL route. . .I think the QMJHL website has simply been showing some of their previously released player bios over the past few days with Emile Guite and now Sim. It’s officially official, sim has been drafted by sarnia

I'm just trying to make sense of the reported compensatory picks being discussed here on the forum and hoping maybe somebody can clarify. From what I can find, if a team uses a compensatory pick for a player who doesn't report from the first two rounds of the previous Q draft - they would drop 5 positions in the next draft. Maybe I'm missing some updated rules regarding compensatory picks? If not, Chicoutimi drafted Sacha Boisvert last year with the 12th overall pick. Some seem to believe that will translate to the 12th pick in this year's draft - but would it not become the 17th overall pick? Chicoutimi also drafted Xavier Veilleux 16th overall last year. Again, some people seem to think that translates into the 16th pick this season, but would it not become the 21st pick overall - according to the 5 spots lower rule? I also believe that this is referred to as a pick possibly going back to Cape Breton in the Desruisseaux deal, but just a guess with the vague wording. A Wildcats' tweet claims that four compensatory pick requests have been filed. Looking at last year's draft, the only other player who seems to jump out as a possibility would be the Eagles pick of Loukka Cloutier at number 34. Using the 5 drop rule - that pick would become 39. Just trying to make sense of it if anybody can clarify. DRAFT ORDER - FIRST 5 ROUNDS (After the Draft Lottery and available compensatory pick info)1ST | 2ND | 3RD | 4TH | 5TH | 1. MW | 20. AB | 40. 17 - Compensation for Sacha Boisvert (12-17). 21 - compensation for Xavier Veilleux (16-21). 39 - Compensation for Loukka Cloutier (34-39)? *Fourth reported compensatory pick?
I can't find the actual rule change presser, but it is 5th overall for a top 5 pick and the same pick for any other pick if memory serves correct. The 4 players are Boisvert (CHI), Veilleux (CHI), Cloutier (CB), and Boily (VIC) if I looking correctly. Edit: After reading the tweet on the Moncton board, it is clearly same pick for non-top 5. That put Chicoutimi at 12 (Boisvert) and 16 (Veilleux).

When did they change it to the 2nd round too? It has changed it seems like 100 time.

Do you have a link or know where to find it? No. The Q's media has been absolute trash for the last couple of years. They have begun to expect the team's to pass down this type of information to the fans instead of doing it themselves. I did a Google search and could not find an article since the 2014 one. They have taken the administrative rules off their site (the last version on there is the rules from 2010-2011). That being said, Moncton has tweeted out there are 4 compensation picks and all but 2 of the first rounders cannot be released as a defective player.

I don’t doubt you I just was hoping to read the rule to see what it is because like I said it has changed so much since the first time it was used back when CB took advantage of it.

Here's the tweet from the Wildcats
Knowing that Boisvert at 12 last year is the first guy, that allows us to extrapolate that it is same pick for those picks.
The 2nd rounders I worked out by checking their profiles and noting that those 2 guys specifically are not listed for Pre-Season 2023 (because no one has their rights).

When did they change it to the 2nd round too? It has changed it seems like 100 time. Last year IIRC It's been a few years, WC got a comp pick for Hopkins going to the BCHL 3 years ago, original pick 2020, comp pick in 2021.
