Yeah there's a good argument to be made for him playing on a very deep D core last year as a reason for his production as well. Comparing production and the "who you know" stuff it seems like an easy call to stick with the Shortall you know over the Whynot you don't. Both likely fill the same role here as a #4/5 D whose off ice role is as important as the on ice stuff. Whynot is a lot better than Shortall is, I think he’d actually be the Eagles best defenceman from an on-ice talent perspective. I view both as 3rd pairing guys here. Lavoie/Biggar Schmitt/Daigle 20/rookie Hard to see a Shortall or Whynot disrupting that.

A lot better then Shortall at what? You can't look at just skill and leave out the intangibles that make up a hockey player. I am taking Shortall 100% of the time over Whynot, not even close in my mind. Well that’s great for you, like I stated, from an on-ice talent perspective Whynot is better and it’s not even a discussion there. There’s other discussions to be had but if you compare them on skill, it’s Whynot over Shortall 100% of the time.

Anyone hearing rumblings on D pairings or line combo's so far in camp. It has been quiet actually from a media perspective. Any update on Ruccia, heard he was banged up.
I guess, we will get a flavor for things as the Eagles hit the road for 2 this weekend.

Should be the first of many Heavyweight tilts between these two teams as they climb up the standings over the next couple seasons.
Fingers crossed for a heated rivalry.

With arguably our top 4 players away at NHL camps, I am definitely expecting a slow start out of the gate for this team.
Ruccia is a question mark right now as I'm not sure he's even on the ice yet, Milota and/or Lavoie should be tested early and often every game.
On the bright side though, there are prime opportunities for our younger players to take on extended roles and really prove their worth in this league over the next month or so until our heavy artillary draw back into the lineup.

Do you expect anyone other then Squires to make their respective NHL main camps? If not, they should all be back prior to the 22nd. Lavoie is expected to play for the Subaru's opening weekend, so he must be back or heading back real soon, I expect that means Ruccia is on the mend and we will likely see a split vs the Wildcats opening weekend. I guess they could always call up another goalie if things change. From what I have seen so far, I would say Robitalle's main focus will be on what he establishes as his top 6 to start the season, or maybe he works it more like a top 9 and spreads things out a bit.

Ruccia should be traded by xmass As much as alot of people would love to see that, I'm not really sure it makes sense if we aren't getting another veteran Goaltender back in return. I can't see a combo of Milota/Lavoie/Farrah carrying this team into a deep playoff run this season or next. Best case scenario really would be to keep Ruccia this season and have Milota start 25-30 games to really evaluate if Ruccia is needed as an OA next season, then make that change in the offseason. A 1A/1B Platoon of Ruccia/Milota is probably good enough this season to keep both guys playing while keeping them healthy and rested enough to avoid late season burnout.

I would say its good enough to start the season. If Ruccia still can't stand out as a bonafide #1 at this point I would say revisiting what the goaltending situation looks like probably becomes a key part of how to proceed over the next 18 months. Whether that means acquiring another vet to take the reigns or looking to give Milota more starts with someone behind him likely comes down to how well Milota looks as well. But as the 19yr old former 1st rounder looking to take over as a bonafide #1 there's a lot of pressure on Ruccia to perform as soon as the season gets going.

Any chance that tomorrow night’s exhibition game will be cancelled in light of Hurricane Lee ?

Now a Good PR Move for The Eagles would be to allow us Season Ticket Holders to give that unused Ticket for The Hurricane Lee Game to a Family Member or Friend and permit them to redeem it for a Ticket to the Home Opener . I am sure some of the new Business Operations Folks read this Board , I know Lindsay MacIntosh did .
