If you out shoot the opponent 36-24....but lose 5-1.....you HAVE to look at goaltending. You can look at it but it wasn’t why the Leafs lost. They lost because they scored 1 goal. The same song and dance they have every playoffs, they do not score goals.

yes the bruins have a lot better goalies plus there were a lot of undisciplined penalties taken by the leafs / domi played stupid trying to get marchand off his game / on a positive note there were a lot of good hits in this game

I know it's just game 1 but wow that was a depressing game, they really need to shift this momentum somehow. No Nylander and McMann definitely hurts but you still gotta be better than that...

Boston looks much more built for playoffs, better defense and big forwards who use their size. Toronto seems to struggle to get shots from inside the "home plate" area.

leafs were like a chicken with their head off , skating around in circles and don't know what to do and then you have pork chops behind the bench trying to change the lines, same old story every year . as a leaf fan you get use to it

Too busy trying to build around analytics. They won the SOG battle but were never in the game. Every single team plays the same way this time of year. Toronto is still in regular season mode. The big advantage they should have, down the middle, resulted in more shots but zero production for Toronto's top 2 making $11mil+ each while Marner just disappears in the intensity means a quick out for this group if they don't bring it together quickly.

so whats the secrecy on Nylander? guy hasn't missed a game in years and plays all 82 trying to get 100 points and then cant practice or play game 1?
seems a bit odd unless it's an off ice issue that they won't reveal

Probably a muscle strain/pull thing that locked up on Thursday/Friday like a back spasm type of thing.

Finally a win with Mathews 1G 2A leading the way and Domi 1G 1A playing with discipline a split in Boston means at least a 5 game series hehe

Tavares always shows up for the big games. Huge goal by him to tie that game.
They showed a lot of push back after that brutal 2-1 goal at the end of the 1st.
If we can get Nylander back by Saturday I like the depth we should have with a 3 line attack but that defense and goaltending need to hold up

Marchand can still hurt you but he isn't the guy he was 5 years ago.
