See that’s odd cause I had heard rumblings today that the 20’a were not going to be adjusted but then with cloutier going to blainville sarrassin is expandable and most likely for cheap too. Which I think could attract him here What do you think odds are we carry 4 20’s ? He’s gone to Val d’Or

Talk on the French board is that we’re one of the teams in on Mianscum. This would be a big mistake unless it’s for an absolute bargain. Of all the years though this is the one to do it. Drakkar are so far the runaway favorite for the CHL and they don't look that great at times. A very beatable favoured team in my opinion. Agreed. This is why it's so frustrating to see what Halifax is doing. The league is very winnable this year, and Halifax has a very solid foundation that just needs secondary scoring to be a real threat. And yet, now we're the 4th or 5th best team, even healthy.

They've already lost three to Charlottetown and almost lost a 4th (that one with a full team). I know the three wins were without Dumais, but even then Halifax still didn't look great against us with a full team. But yes, it's wide open this year. Should make for a thrilling playoffs.

Unless something trickles in after the backlog of trade calls goes through, that seems to be our deadline done for a other year. Pretty lowkey but that's refreshing considering how hectic years past have been.
Out: Shields (17) 2nd 2024 (BLB) 2nd 2025 (QUE) 4th 2024 Stahon (?) Begin (?)
In: Cibulka (19 Euro) Larochelle (17) Romeo (18) 3rd 2026 (CHA)

If that's it the question now becomes who gets sent down/put on waivers cause we currently have 8 defencemen and 15 forwards when you include a potential Newcombe return.

D Core will be interesting, I think you can reassign Campbell and MacPhee and keep your forwards mostly intact as usual, I personally think Waugh will be reassigned as well

Honestly I’m actually pleasantly surprised/relieved with the moves or more so lack of - getting Cibulka gives a top QB for next year and a half, don’t give up the future and add an 18 year old top 6
I think it’s also a positive sign that we didn’t go out and overpay for someone which hopefully means Newcombe is close to a return. Which is basically like going and acquiring a top line 19 year old

Is it fair to say that Sly and Louis worked together, both wearing GM hats to make some sound decisions for both now and the future. McPhee will end up in Truro is my guess, something has to give on D or do they run with 8. Henneberry likely in uniform for Victo tonight...he is in Drummondville, 45 mins down the road.

We can thankfully relax regarding the Mianscum rumour.
Sherbrooke tweeted they made no deals today.

I am very interested to see the first home game with the updated roster, I think we did great this year not to go crazy and bring in anyone who didn't help our team both now and next year.
As I'm typing this CA Lavallee has his second point (1g, 1a) of this game against Victo.

In: Cibulka (19 Euro) Larochelle (17) Romeo (18) 3rd 2026 (CHA) Agreed. Lowkey but thats exactly what was needed. Rather than keep committing and overspending now this approach just feels so much better for the long term. Any risk with Cibulka is likely offset by conditions on him returning or not. I'm sure the price of a 2nd now and a 2nd for next year seems pretty fair. Him being a 20 also doesn't stop us from drafting again unless that rule has changed. So there's options there if Cibulka goes pro. He seems to bring an element our other guys have been trying to bring so I really like how this sets the structure within the D core now. Stahon and Begin never worked out but both were low cost gambles. Shields also has potential but a change was needed. There has been a refreshing tone lately from Sly combined with this trade period that have really indicated more of a longer term look. We see there's a peak happening next year but if you can add a dynamic top pick this year and keep that core of 06 and 07 born kids together and combine a solid core with some promotions getting people back in the rink and you start to build back that fan base.

The problem is building for an upset has such a low percentage pay off. And to add that player costs you multiple picks and a player. Keeping Shortall and any assets an upgrade would cost was the right move.
