Anthing to the rumour going around that Vidicek is looking like a late addition to the team? If no NHLers get released, which I don’t think they will then HC is going to add another player to the roster. It’ll be one of Vidicek, Firkus, Ludwinski or Barkey.

Matt Poitras has been loaned to Team Canada! That’s good for us.. really need Vidicek in the lineup, now it comes down to injuries, it will be interesting if Canada flys anyone out all the way to Sweden if they go down a player or two on forward, I highly doubt that’ll happen though. I would assume whomever can get a direct flight to Sweden would be the chosen one, which would likely be whomever is closest to Torontos airport.

Canada wins 6-3 over Switzerland today. Some notes on the Mooseheads: Jake Furlong with 1 assist, +3, 1 shot. Steven Ellis had him as the first standout in his postgame article. www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/top-standouts-from-canada-switzerland-in-world-junior-championship-pretournament-gameJordan Dumais with 1 assist on Fraser Minten's goal and a team leading 7 shots on goal. His line with Minten and Macklin Celebrini has been noted to have developed great chemistry in a short amount of time. Celebrini got a major and ejected after that goal in the 2nd, likely to get suspended, but when he's back I'd expect that 2nd line to be a mainstay and very productive. Mathis Rousseau 26 saves on 29 shots for 0.896 save %, played all 60 minutes. Apparently the 3rd goal he gave up was somewhat concerning- soft goal. Coaches confirmed after the game that the other two goalies are planned to split the game vs USA tomorrow, which was probably the plan anyways. Rousseau might be the lucky one considering the front-end of Team USA this year, which is *terrifying*. Furlong with Oliver Bonk appears to be a solid pairing so far- both have had good showings in camp and pre-tournament games. Not sure how the pairings shake out when Tristan Luneau gets over his illness, and pending the status of Tanner Molendyk, who came to camp injured and left this game with a different injury... I'd think Furlong has shown that he can contribute in multiple aspects of the game, not in danger of being pushed to 7th defenseman. Of course, I might just be biased, so knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc etc

I feel Dumais will be most dangerous in the offensive zone with those two. At times it looked like he was left in the dust in transition, and of course that explosive skating ability is Dumais' weakness. The less Furlong is noticeable, the better.

Thanks! Hi from California Canada vs USA, unexpectedly Rousseau gets the net again. Celebrini avoided a suspension but demoted to the 4th line, Conor Geekie centering Dumais and Minten. Furlong paired with Noah Warren.

Dumais didn't see much icetime 5 on 5. Basically the 13th forward today.

Dumais ends with 0 shots on goal, but did get 1 assist on a PPG in the 3rd. Canada's first line was smoked by USA's 4th line on one particularly tough goal in the 2nd.
Rousseau got the first half, 14 saves on 17 shots. It was 3-2 for USA when the swap was made. 0.824 isn't amazing, but it happens to be better than St Hilaire's 0.727...
Furlong with just a calm game. The one time he got beat he was left all alone to defend two players on the most dangerous line in the tournament in front of the net. Had a nice shift in OT as well.
Super fun game, thankfully it seems like no one got hurt- especially since both Luneau and Molendyk are ruled out for the tournament.

Happy day before World Juniors everyone! Mathis Rousseau is confirmed to be starting tomorrow's game. Lines in practice are similar to the US game, Dumais with Geekie and Minten again. Furlong paired with Bonk, but they are missing Ty Nelson due to travel delays. And just for fun, the annual team canada called out video. Interesting info here... no one knows what music Rousseau listens to, despite him always listening to music. Dumais says Furlong name drops about guys he skates with in Halifax like Marchand and Batherson. Dumais and Furlong are still big fortnite guys. Rousseau still talks about his junior hockey stats. I dunno about you guys, but I find these things fun.

Rousseau made 24 saves on 26 shots, including one massive highlight-reel save in the 1st just a few seconds before Canada gets the first goal. Of course, this is the standard for Rooster as we know... but now the rest of Canada does. His only shaky moment was a stretch in the second when something was up with his skate and it went a long while before a whistle, but he held his own well. Hopefully this shuts up the backseat coaches on social media who were convinced he was unusable.
Team Canada decided to pad Furlong's TOI stats nicely by taking a bunch of dumb penalties in the third. Overall a fine game for him, 17:08 and +1 rating.
Dumais was a little quiet in the latter half of the game, most of his ice time was in the first period. Not credited with a shot on goal but he had an amazing breakaway chance off the post. I wonder if they let Celebrini out of the doghouse onto the first line again.
Not a bad start against a team with some star power. Next up for them is the Latvian team who got victimized repeatedly by Sweden's power play in a 6-0 rout.

expecting complete domination from Latvia. 7-0
already so tired of this terrible goal song. Even Hall and Oates would be better.

Interesting to see Dumais backcheck. Makes me wonder why he doesn't do it for the Moose? Maybe because he trusts his D enough and doesn't think it necessary? Or he knows he won't be benched?
