Sounds like the KHL has no proof the other players signed anything.

According to the article in the T & T there seems to be a good chance that he ends up playing in the AHL....
I still think that it was the wrong decision to go with an 18 year old that has a 50/50 chance only to being in Moncton.

If he shows in Moncton, I doubt you will feel the same way. I'm more of a high risk high reward kind of guy. Although I see your point to getting a 17YO and keeping him for 3 seasons. Moncton went with the best player available which is usually a good strategy. If Voynov shows, I think we are contenders this season. So it's a good gamble to take IMO.

I prefer Voynov to a guy like Martikanen or Voroshilov or Bezak who never really had the talent to make an impact. If they can get him for a year, I don;t expect him back next year, they should have Famin plus their 2009 Euro pick(probably trading up).

I'll obviously change my tune if we get him but I was not a fan of taking a player with a 50/50 chance of being here either. Not to mention a Russian which further lessens the chances of him showing up. No reason why we couldn't have drafted a good player that was all but sure to report with such a high pick. A Voracek-type doesn't come along every year as previously stated but we certainly could have gotten a Knotek-type Euro.

This was posted on the LA Kings halfboard today. Take it for what it's worth Some other tidbits... Other than looking disinterested on the faceoffs, I thought Handzus looked good. His skating is much better than last season. He picked up a garbage goal on Sunday by parking himself on the edge of the crease and he made a great cross ice pass to Loktionov that he one-timed for a goal. Loktionov is very skilled and is not slightly built at all. He looks like he is ready to play in the AHL to me, but who knows if the Kings are willing to burn a year of his pro contract doing that. Colten Teubert is heading back to his junior team. Doughty will make the team. Voynov should also spend a year in juniors.

I was reading some of the comments on the kings forum about mondays game against pheonix and most of them say Voynov looked overmatched along the boards and behind the net, but Good puck control and vision in the neutral zone and on the point, only 1 guy said he disagreed and said he looked good all around. So IMO he prob will be reporting here, just a matter of time as to when..

OK boys start stitching the name VOYNOV on your Cats Jersey because he is 100% sure to be in Moncton in October! and he is sure to develope into a top line player as he is nearly there now.

And you just lost all credibility by saying top "line" as oppose to "pairing". I'm not disagreeing with you, just saying.

Wishful thinking IMO. At this point the odds are much less than 100%. As a Cat's fan what worries me is the fact that he has already played with older players in Russia so the AHL isn't out of the question. I also did a little surfing and I didn't find that many observers who thought he didn't look good with the rookies

Hard to say if this is good news or not. ...maybe he is doing very well, will be one of the last cuts and play AHL. ...or they are keeping up there for a bit longer, maybe working on his english and then will assign him to junior.
