Hard to say if this is good news or not. ...maybe he is doing very well, will be one of the last cuts and play AHL. ...or they are keeping up there for a bit longer, maybe working on his english and then will assign him to junior. Voynov hasnt played in the last 2 games. I think it is fair to say that they will not keep him in the NHL otherwise they would like to see their rookier a little bit more. (Which will probly happen in the next couple games) But if he wouldnt be in their plans they would have already returned him to the junior. This being said it is very hard to know of their intentions as of now.

The way I see it is they want to send him to junior but will keep him in LA as long as possible to get some experience. If they really wanted him to play AHL they would send him down there along with the others to try out for the team and meet the coaches, etc. But everyone looks at it differently, the glass is half full for me.

Sean Odonnell was traded to the Kings. I guess this is a good news for us. Takes another spot at the NHL rank.

Today's comment from LA King's fan:
Also Voynov and Loko are WAY impressive. If they go to Jrs. I would be completely shocked.

Also, there is the possible verbal agreement with the Wildcats? If so, I would think that LA would stick to the agreement and send him to us for the year.

Don't think for a minute that the Kings would send Voynov to Moncton if he could make the NHL. Now, if there's a choice of AHL or QMJHL, the Q might be better for his overall develloppement so that would be the reasonning behind that. I would only expect him the one year as a transition from Russia.

On LA messageboard everyone seems to think that Voynov is AT LEAST good enough for AHL.

Those HF messageboards, especially of the US Sun Belt teams, are filled with a bunch of puckbunnies who wouldn't know a good hockey player from a bad one ... they seem to be a bunch of teenage kids who watched their very first hockey game 3 years ago and now spout foolishness all over the internet ... time will tell, but I wouldn't put too much stock in what is being said unless you somehow know for a fact the poster is credible ...

Jimmy, ever been to a game in CA? Believe it or not there are knowledgeable fans in the Golden State. Assuming sunbelt folks don't know hockey is like assuming Canadians don't know football...in reality some do, some don't. I wouldn't take stock in some posters comments anywhere.

I very much agree...that is a very small minded comment Jimmy. Sure the majority of them may not know much about hockey but they have hardcore fans who are very knowledgeable as well.

Did Jimmy say that every fan in California has no knowledge of hockey? That's not what I got from his comment... of course, maybe I'm not reading carefully enough... could be a hidden word in there.
It sounds like he meant to say that many fans do not have the knowledge of the game that they think they have. Virtually every fan messageboard is like that to some extent... these ones included.

Interesting tidbit
Laktionov of the LA KINGs has been rumoured to have been sent to is OHL team today, even if there is no news on it.
If we look at the LA lineup RIGHT NOW on nhl.com all the remaining player at training camp is on theroster i in the 'event summary' in the section scores..... the name of Laktionov and Voynov are NOT there.
Yesterday they were. When the game starts , only the players in uniform will be listed.
Take it for what its worth.
