Not sure either but he took part in the warmup I heard and was told just before the game.

Is Sparling hurt or is he off to an NHL camp? I see he played last night. Although Saint John is missing all those players, I don't expect to see us whip out 8 goals again. I think Mayer will be the difference for the Dogs. Their D is probably gonna be pretty tired, with guys playing lots of minutes last night and they aren't much used to that. I don't think anyone is much used to that... playing 30+ minutes for their first game of the season. The Sea Dog Defenders played a smart game last night, not running around in their own zone and kept most of the shots to the outside. Mayer was able to play his angles and freeze pucks for a breather any chance he got. We have young players, but they are coached well, and they seem to have picked up the team systems quite quickly over the past 2 weeks...everyone was doing their job, and not trying to do too much. I think we will be in tough tonight against the Wildcats, with a goalie like Riopel you will always be looking for scoring, as he should keep the gaa to a minimum. Should be a great goaltenders duel, if we can keep your guys under 4 I think we can win. But if we get into a wide open game I fear we will run out of gas in the 2nd half. Prediction 3-2 Sea Dogs.

I heard Matt Brown might not be in the lineup tonight. He's feeling the effects of a hit last night. If not 100% can't see him playing, early on in the year and Cats don't play for a week until next Saturday.

Sloppy game all around, but we came out with the two points. Kudos to Saint John though, as I thought they played a good road game and hung around til the very end. Saint John could've easily walked away with the win. Stephens and Brannon doing all the damage again. I kinda feel for Brannon though.. 2 goals in each of the games and no star? Especially tonight though, I thought he deserved it.

Brannon deserved a star as well tonight. I thought he'd be 1st star for sure. Brannon 4 goals in 2 games, had 8 all last year. Ted Stephens 5 points in 2 games, 5 pts all of last year. Gotta give credit to SJ, missing their 6 better players except for Mayer, they battled and ran out of gas in my opinion. A sloppy game by the Cats, but they got the 2 pts, all that matters.
