You have to remember that not all the Moncton fans realised that Saint John was missing so many key pieces. The casual fan most times just follows his or her team. Ignorance is bliss.

My favourite part of the game was when they named the pregame scratches, Kingston almost sounded out of breath by the time he finished both teams.

Looks like the Q trying to get rid of fighting is going to result in a lot of stick work and cheap shots. Rio was run over and what....only a 2 min minor. Maybe now our goalies are now going to be targets among others. Even the low skilled players will be taking liberties with the skilled players. There will be nothing to send that message any more. Fight and you are gone. It normally is a 2 minute minor ... has been like that for years there has been quite a few hits on goaltenders over the years and the vast majority collect the 2 minute variety penalty nothing really new there. If its deemed to be intentional ... ie running the goalie ... then it can result in a match penalty (or something like that) and an automatic one game suspension. But I didn't think that was intentional last night ... he was just trying to get to the puck and they both zigged when one needed to zag. A couple of years ago Yandle ran Pavalec ... clearly intentional ... and he was ejected and suspensed one game.

Fight and you are gone. I think you have something there. The games I have seen, when a Dman give even a love tap to some forward hacking at the goalie, it is the Dman going into the box. But then, as you say, the goalie gets run and where is the "5 game suspension" the new violence report suggests??? It could just be a show of force by the refs for the first month, then back to normal--to appease the politicians. But if this is the way they are planning on calling games this season, there will be lots of chicken sh*t stickwork going on. I think the refs have to rethink how they are going to be calling penalties at the net. If you are calling roughing on a Dman just doing his job in a restrained way, pushing off some forward clown either running the goalie or hacking at him, then they have to also call the offending forward. Otherwise, you are going to have your star goalies walking around in arm casts!

I have to agree with you Ace as I and some friends of mine went to St-John two years ago to watch the Wildcats play and three idiots in the section I was in nagged at us all thru the game and had vulgar language thrown at us all thru the game because we were loosing ; but not thinking that we were missing some key players like St-John last night. What I am saying is that I have watched games all thru this league and you will always have these kind of people no matter what game you are watching but it doesn't mean that all the rest of there fans are that way! Sea Dog played a good game last night and it could have gone either way.....and if Mayer keep playing this way and with the rest of your key players back you guys should have a good season.

How come Brown didn't play? He got hit in Friday's game vs PEI. I heard they didn't play him as a precaution since Cats don't play for a week and it's early in the year. He wasn't feeling 100%.
