Neither was Perron...but in order to try and help your Rose Coloured view of things you made him into one. You completely missed my point on Beauregard. Here is the results for Perron in the 2007 playoffs: Perron, David Lew 17 12 16 28 22 6 And he was the Lewiston best forward at the Mem Cup.... What is your point? We will have nothing to compare to until the 2009 playoffs start.

Billy- I'm not going to take all that much issue with comparing Eagles to Perron- Eagles does have huge playoff experience that Perron didn't have at that time; however, comparing Barberio to Denny......... ah NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO; Barberio at 19 might have the IMPACT that Denny had at 19 but not Barberio at 18- it's not even close right now. I am not shitting on Barberio at all- just saying he is not as good as Denny in 2007.

Barberio is a more cerebral player, plays a ton of minutes and reads the play well with and without the puck. Barbs is sort of like Lidstrom in terms of style, he does a lot of small things taht you don't notice but he is not flashy. Denny is like Sheldon Souray, he'll get a ton of PP points but is not great defensively. Team Canada even tried him on the wing because they felt he was not good enough defensively to make it as a d-man.

Denny was a better defensive defenceman in his last year in the Q than you give him credit for. He was an impact player in the 2007 playoffs with 1) the shot on the power play. 2) his size and how he used it. Barberio will have to improve in order to match what Denny did 2 years ago. Of course, they are different types of dmen. Barberio is probably the best 18 year old defenceman in the league.

You have got to be kidding. in his last year Denny had 65 points in 59 games. +33 with 103 gh. Yeah definitely a defensive liability

Yeah definitely a defensive liability He wasn't a defensive liability in the Q, but he will be at the next level, that's why he had to start ECHL. Barberio is a guy that can play head to head against the top players in the Q along with playing on the PP. Denny had a nice +- but everybody on that team did, just like everybody on the Cats do also. Dimitruk and Boyle ahve great +- stats.

I am not comparing everybody. My question was who was going to the wildcats answer this year to Chad Denny for Lewiston in 2007. Your answer was Barberio. Now, Barberio may very well turn out to be the better player in the long run, this year he is no where near close to the presence that Denny was for Lewiston in 2007.
But you go on telling yourself that he is.

In 08-09 the Cats are on pace for 119pts(over the same 70 games Lewy palyed), 3.75 GF per game and 2.00 GA per game. Statistically the Cats are a notch above Lewy, especuially defensively(0.8 less GA per game).

Its not as simple as looking up team stats and making those conclusions. I think Lewy were a much tougher team to play against at their best, you had to fight past the Denny's and Marshalls and the Lewy muggings, then you had Bernier sitting there who IMO is a more dominant goaltender than Riopel despite having worse stats (in fairness, Riopel hasnt had a chance to stand on his head in big playoff games etc).

Having to face a like like Sill's over a 7 game series would not be much fun for the opposition's top line. As tough as you say Lewy was and with Bernier in nets, they still gave up nearly one more goal per game against(0.8 to be exact).

Im guessing there has probably been other teams over the years that had better defensive stats and better offensive stats than the eventual champs of that year or previous years. When playoffs rolled around, Lewy's airtight team defence were misreable to play against, much of that because of Marshall and Denny's physical influence. After Perron they still had world junior member Cliche up front also plus a strong supporting cast. Plus, even if you matched them player for player, everything clicked that year, so you'd also need that to happen. I dont think you have enough high end offensive talent, I also think Gormley will wear down by playoffs and not be as effective. Moncton to me are sort of like Cape Breton last year in the sense that nobody can deny their success and everyone is aware of them and their potential to make a big run, but I don't ~really~ think they will end up as champs.

Regardless of where you see Lewy being better, at this point the Cats are ahead of what Lewy did in 06-07. Nobody really thought Lewy or Gatineau last year would win either. There were teams better teams on paper than both those.
