Just as a side note to this discussion. Two Mooseheads staff (Troini and Ali MacDonald) were at the Lions game tonight to watch Summerside play. It was the first game they have taken in this yr. Rumor is Darcy Ashley to Mooseheads is on. How? He is an undrafted 16 yr old. Wouldn't he have to go into the 2010 Q draft as a 17 yr old?

Same as Gillard had.

The chances are him reporting to the Mooseheads (if selected by them) are higher especially with his friend Brent Andrews playing for you guys.

Seeing that Hotdog "MacDonald" is from Antigonish I would suspect he could have gone to many NG or Truro games.

So, he'll have to go through the draft just as Gillard did. I am not sure how thecaptain can say he is going to the Mooseheads. There is a draft to be considered. The Mooseheads may be interested in him, but another team could just as easily draft him.

I am sure that there are a limited number of teams that could entice Ashley to report to the Q ... Moncton, Saint John, Halifax might be the extent of the list ... I would be surprised if one of those three don't draft him this year and try to convince him.

With his size and skill US College is definately where he will go. There is about a 1% chance you will see him in the Q next year. He will play Junior A in Summerside next year then go to Maine the year after that. If a Q team drafts him they will probably have to hope he comes back to Canada to play in the Q a la Zack Sill.

Many said the same about Stephen Gillard and look where he is. Also U of Maine hands out up to 40 verbal commitments, they expect players to drop their commitment and in some cases if the player doesnt develop U of Maine will just drop his scholarship...so for a lot of kids its still a risk they are taking trying to go the NCAA route. That being said...someone will draft Ashley, even if they dont have a commitment from him, there could always be the Sill or Yandle situation...

I was talking with a Q scout last night and he mentioned if the draft was held today, and his team had 1st overall pick, they would be choosing Louick Marcotte from CCL.
38 games -- 22 goals -- 22 assists.
