The next 2 weeks will be quite interesting as very few teams have solidified positions.
Telus Division 4 pts - 1st to 3rd 7 pts - 6th to 9th
Eastern Division 9 pts 1st to 5th
The MC should be rocking if that final game against the Sea Dogs decides 1st place. I would rather the Moose seal it up before then, but it would have a game 7 style atmosphere in the building.

At this point it appears that Victo has fallen off and are 3 pts behind PEI and Riki for the last playoff spot in the east. The Moose need the win tonight as Saint John still has 2 games in hand they play RN tonight and Val D'or tommorrow so it's a good chance to get 3 points up on them with one game in hand (after tommorrow). As I have said, I have no interest in seeing us play Riki in round one (personally I'd like to avoid them until later if they can get through the Telus bracket). First is the goal....baby steps......

Dogs win today and are now 1 point back. I do hope it comes down to the last game of the regular season.

Yeah, and we have two busses full going..... plus however many more who are going on their own, should be awesome if it's for first in the division.

The final game of the season determining 1st place (potentially)...what an atmosphere it will be. Not me... I'd like the moose to be a good 5+ points ahead at that point Question regarding playoffs... lets say we finish 1st in this conference. We get home ice in round 3 against the telus division no matter where they finish above us in the standings because of "seeding" (CB/VD last year for example). But what if we go to the finals and play, say, Gatineau who would have more points than us? Does the #1 divisional seed hold true through to the finals? I assume if its both #1 seeds, home ice goes to the higher regular season ranking...

I believe the official way to interpret the rules is as follows: (Rule 1) Favour will be shown to the team which resides in Quebec. (Rule 1.1.1) If both teams are from Quebec the team with a 1993 Stanley Cup winning goaltender in its organization receives preferential treatment. (Rule 1.1.2) The team with the biggest market receives preferential treatment (Rule 1.1.3) If such qualifications are not met the team closest to Montreal receives preferential treatment. (Rule 1.1.4) If teams are equidistance from Montreal a coin well be flipped. (Rule 1.2.1) If both teams are not from Quebec the biggest market receives preferential treatment. (Rule 1.2.2) If the markets are of comparable size the team closest to Quebec receives preferential treatment. (Rule1.2.3) If teams are equidistant from Quebec a coin will be flipped. Now some of that may be lost in translation but from what I hear that’s how it goes. ;D

Home ice advantage in the final series is based on the original seeding of the teams. Points only come into play if the teams have the same seed.

Home ice advantage is given to the team with the highest position in their division standings at the end of the quarter-final series; if both teams are in the same position in their respective divisions, home ice advantage will be given to the team with the most points during the season, or in the event of a tie, by applying section 4.13.Therefore using the your example Joe, East #1 Halifax defeats Telus #2 and Telus #1 defeats East #2. Then we have a tie in seeding, the tie breaker according to admin rules is points, so if Gatineau is Telus #1 seed and they finished with less points then we would get home ice.

So basically, the only way Halifax won't have home ice in the finals if they finished 1st, is if they met the #1 seed from the Telus, even though the #2, and maybe #3 would also have more points than Halifax.

There is one other way..... Halifax gets eliminated before the finals.
