Battle for last spot on D will be interesting.
Locks are: Clow, Allan Gervais, Benoit Lessard, Pierre-Luc Southorn, Jordon Swit, Jason
#7 spot will be between Owens, Malouin and Deighan. Look for Deighan to have a huge camp and have a battle with Malouin. Malouin, Danick Martel, Pierre-Luc Owens, Chris Deighan, Parker Koopmans, MacKenzie

However, you only have 5 locks identified and you should also mark Malouin as the 6th lock. That would leave Deighan and Owens batteling for that 7th spot and according to HPO Snow has the skill to play in the Q as well. It will be a tough battle and any of these guys have the potential to work their way up the depth chart.

Rocket coach anxious to get camp started Jean likes the look of his team heading into training camp
CHARLES REID The Guardian
As the P.E.I. Rocket’s 2007-08 training camp opens tonight in Pownal, head coach Yanick Jean is ready and maybe just a little nervous.
“We’re very anxious. We’re happy because we know we have a very good group of guys coming back,” Jean, a former Chicoutimi assistant, said on Thursday.
Today’s session starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
P.E.I.’s fifth Quebec Major Junior Hockey League camp since moving from Montreal in 2003 starts with the 44 players arriving at 1 p.m. With six players under the maximum it means much of the team is already picked.
Back is centre Brett Morrison, who scored 16 points in P.E.I.’s seven-game, first-round playoff loss to Acadie-Bathurst last season, veteran Island forward Geoff Walker and speedy Czech Republic native Martin Latal — that promises to be the first line.
After those three, come a pantheon of youngsters such as Charlottetown’s Chris Doyle, who scored a pair of goals for Team Canada in three games at the 2007 Ivan Hlinka memorial under-18 tourney in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, third-year forwards Chad Locke and Matthew Lachaine and sophomore winger Maxim Cliche vying for the second line.
On defence, an older Pierre-Luc Lessard, a gritty Benoit Gervais and 20-year-old Jason Swit should anchor the young but speedy crew, which includes Jordon Southorn and rookie Allan Clow from Freetown.
Starting goaltending is solid with Antoine Lafleur, a second round pick of the New York Rangers at the 2007 NHL draft.
The backup position is where the battle looms as four goalies, including last year’s second Evan Mosher, will compete for the position.
Island notables missing are Summerside’s Devon Praught, who committed to St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., in July, and Charlottetown’s Nathan Snowie, who spent much of last season with the Charlottetown Abbies of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.
With a boatload of players returning, Jean said, the camp promises to be interesting.
“It’s going to be a very competitive training camp because we’ve got between 18 and 20 guys who have Q experience that we already know are going to play with us so there’s not many spots left.”
The team plays four exhibition games in five nights starting with Sunday’s game against St. John’s in Summerside (game time is 7 p.m.), so sculpting the roster into its final form should be relatively fast.
Decisions on Quebec players must come by Aug. 20 because of CEGEP (collegiate-level education facilities in Quebec) registration rules. First cuts should come on Saturday.
“So it’s going to be very, very quick and by next Thursday the team is going to be not done but we should be three or four players away for our complete squad,” said Jean.
Now in his third year head-manning the camp, Jean likes the streamlined roster.
“It’s a lot easier because of (so many) players coming back, we brought guys we knew had a chance to make this hockey club. There was no point bringing 60 to 70 guys in and cutting 30 after two days. We feel very good about the guys coming to our training camp.”
Also new is camp is assistant coach Corrado Micalef, hired to replace the departed Dave Flanagan, who stepped down in May. Micalef, a former goaltender who won a Memorial Cup with the Cornwall Royals in 1981, will handle the defence during games.
Jean said there is a naturally a difference in how the assistants work, but the change affects players more than him.
“The biggest adjustment is going to be for the players (to) his way of working. It’s not for myself. (When) we hired the guy, I knew exactly what to expect from him.”
Practice and inter-squad games are free and open to the public.

So, who's heading to Pownal FRiday night? Im gonna miss the intersquad games on Saturday, so I"ll be their watching the practice tomorrow night! Also, will Kana be their? I'm planning on going sometime during the weekend. I'm hoping that Kana will be there as I am wanting to see what kind of player he is. I'm not saying it will happen nor am I making any kind of predictions, but wouldn't it be nice if he turns out to be like Voracek, to be able to come in and be one of the better players in the league and give the Rocket a huge lift. I'm not holding my breath on it, but it would be nice if the Rocket could catch that kind of a break.

I think hoping for a Voracek is a big stretch. Personally I am hoping Kan might turn into a similar player as Karsums who Kana's scouting report sounds like he plays a similar style to.
Karsums played a gritty style of hockey as well and came into the league and scored 30 goals and over 50 pts in his rookie year before being selected by Boston in the second round.
And so IMO as only a 17 yr old if Kana can come in play a similar gritty style to Karsums and score over 20 with around 50 pts in his rookie year I would be very pleased.
The good news with Kana is he could be with the Rocket for the next 3 yrs and with some forward depth we hopfully don't need to put too much pressure on him right away and give him some time to adjust and develop.
Could be fun to watch him and Doyle playing together as they will hopefully be a huge part of this team's future going forward and I am also looking forward to hopefully seeing Kana in training camp.
Can anyone confirm if Kana is here yet and will he be on the ice this weekend?

I would be pleased if he turned out to be a solid player who makes a contribution, but nothing wrong with wanting your team to catch that kind of a break

I agree that Kana sounds like a great player to have on your team. Hopefully he arrives he soon (if he has not already) and gets ready for opening night.
With him, Doyle, Clow, Mosher, Malouin, Street and MacLean we have a solid young core.

Well just got back from training camp, didnt stay to watch all of the Red Team's but seen enough. They handed out rosters for the Red and Blue team, there was 22 players on Blue and 19 listed on red but when red came out there was 20 on the ice. According to the Rocket site they listed 41 players...there was 42 players on the ice tonight. The players missing off the lists were Doyle (of course,) and Clow (who I think may have been the extra player on Red that wasn't listed on the roster but not 100% sure on that).
So anyway, hard to tell from one night, all ya really can do is watch them skate around....intersquad and exhibition games will tell alot more.
