The fight was right in front of me. Bona was shoving Kana out of the crease, Kana dropped one glove and popped Bona four or five times spllitting him open. The Bona threw 4 or 5 back and the refs come in . Win Kana for bloodying Bona. Kana, Main were the best players for the Rocket tonight. majority of the rest were awful. Paynter played his game nothing flashy. Lafleur was weak. I think offensively we are going to be in trouble. Other teams will be focusing on Walker and Morrison. After that we have nothing, or so it seemed tonight. One bonus was that unlike last year, we didn't have to wait until December to win our first fight. Once Kana finally got punched, he held on for his life. Prediction: Kana will turn down any rematch request made by Bona the rest of the year......

So he should......
Top two line talent Vs Bona.
As a Rocket fan, that trade off is not worth it ........in a close game.
Paynter will handle Bona just fine.

Bona is Halifax's #3 dman lol...so im pretty sure its an even trade off Paynter?? You mean Mr. Invisible?? I had to look to see if he was dressed last night...although thats not all his fault...typical Jean triple shifting his top line...i dont think Wright had 1 shift.

Main's hit on MacAskill was highlight reel material. It was one of those hits that looked a lot harder than it was, because of the speed the guys were moving. Still, one of the biggest hits I've seen at a Q game in Ch'town. Main was a wrecking ball all night. cb That hit was a crowd pleaser for sure, but it was illegal since he clearly left his feet and hit MacAskill like a football tackle. That kind of hit is supposed to be a charging penalty, but the refs were probably trying to keep the penalties as even as possible and the Moose had more PPs up until then. If Main continues to hit like that he will spend a lot of time in the box. I thought it could've been a fair charging call as well. cb

Imagine all psyched up to play your first Major Junior game, and you spend 60 minutes sitting on the bench.

If Kana is going to be the first one to throw punches like he did last night, he is the one who is going to fight his own battles, not Paynter. It would be different if someone was taking shots at him or taking runs at him, but if Kana is the one who starts it, he is going to have to back it up no matter if he is a top 6 forward or not.
I agree with Lalalaprise, double or triple shifting players and not playing some players at all makes no sense in the first game of the season. If Jean is going to be doing this all season, the Rocket will go nowhere, once again.

Yes he did back it up, but if he chooses to stir the pot he has to continue to back it up. I like Kana and think he is a good player who is going to be interesting to watch. I would be surprised if he is going to be needing other players like Paynter to be handling his battles for him as it looks like he is more than willing to do it himself.

How so? By throwing gloved punches?? Once the two got squared off he went into "hold on" mode. Backing it up would be squaring up with a guy and going at it...not taking punches when the linesmen is between them.

Not to hard to understand. Kana and Bona pushed and shoved......instead of running away, Kana threw a couple punches, dropped his mitts and threw a couple more. Staying there with the much bigger Bona and not running away is how he backed it up. Simple really

Kana threw a gloved punch in a scrum...you dont have to be tough to do that...
