I dunno, as much as I agree that our defence needs some help, Main was so much more effective playing on the 3rd line on Friday then he was for the period he played defence on Sunday.
He seemed like he hesitated a lot while handling the puck and didn't make too many good first passes. The same could be said for pretty much all of our defencemen, but all the same.
I would have him on the 3rd line to get the energy going. Our lack of energy was a big issue on Sunday.

He was hitting everything and caused some headache for the opposing team. Im all for putting all the top guns on the top line.....at least until they get going. Schmidt on the top line does not interest me at all.......not a huge fan sorry. As i said earlier, I would like to see Locke get up with Kana and Doyle on the 2nd line......and if they do decide to split the top 3 up, the I agree with HF about Locke up their. He has offensive skill, and playing with Mo and Walker, he could stick some in the net. I expect a different Rocket team come Wednesday night.

I like Main at forward instead of on defense. I would even put him on with Morrison and Walker and let him do the banging to create space and he can also be on the ice if someone were to give Walker and Morrison a hard time. His skating isn't that bad so he should be able to keep up with them and not slow them down.
I agree with Bois that the 3rd and 4th lines are ineffective because Jean plays them so little as a unit, he even plays Morrison on the 3rd line for some shifts. Not a good way to get your lines to gel with each other.
I don't see Locke fitting in on the top 2 lines. We've been waiting since he arrived over 2 years ago to play to his supposed potential, but that hasn't happened. How many chances does the kid need/get to show his potential? There is a reason why he has never been anything more than a 3rd line player and at 19 years old, I think that what you see, is what you get and nothing more.
I hope they come out with a much better effort, much better prepared and a much better result. If they don't, instead of announcing that they still have seasn tickets/flex packs for sale, they ought to be announcing where to go to refund your tickets. I have never seen so many people ticked leaving the CCC as they were after last game.

I like Main up front as well.. problem is I don't like our defense at all right now with a bunch of rookies, an overager running around attempting to hit everyone and missing most of the time getting caught out of position and a slow footed guy playing with a wounded wing
that's the reason i'd rather put Main on the backend
p.s not sure how many legit chances Locke has received... he played well in the top 6 when he came over (with Truhkno) and early last year when put on the wing with Lali and Doucet... most of the rest of his career he's been put in a spot duty role.. not saying he deserves a shot at the first line but someone has to get a chance.. and a chance should last longer than 2 shifts
also where are the Rocket spin doctors at? no public statements from Savard yet about the opening weekend , the lack of attendance, the abysmal effort put forth etc.. i'm kinda surprised by this.. in fact I dont think any quotes from players, coaches or management were printed in the game recap articles

Something no one else here might try lol put Lachaine up on the 2nd line and give him and latal the passing zones with Cliche in front of the net, put Doyle back on the 3rd line show him that even tho he did get 2 goals the other night, he cant do it by himself and cant be making all thses fancy behind the back, no look look, drop passes that go to the other team, but i think that would even out the line up a lil bit and you could even flop the 2nd and 3rd lol and give latal some rest
Walker Morrison Locke Cliche Lachaine Latal Kana Doyle Main Schmidt DesRoches Paynter
Lessard Southy Gervais Maloun Swit Clow

He simply hasn't played well enough and consistent enough to stay there. Even if a player plays on the 3rd line they still have to make things happen and he doesn't and when he does get reasonable ice time he is still invisible on the ice. He has seen enough ice time over the 2 and half years that he has been here to show what he is capable of.

I think that the panic button is ready to be pressed to early...the rocket will do fine this year , I admit that sunday was the worst game that i seen in a long time (and only seen it on the web , live must have been a lot worse) but they will rebound . I think that lewy will win 5-2 but the rocket will take two on the weekend against the fog devils , which is no easy task and that will set them rolling. (and i will see these two games live)

if main is a forward, he has to get more then 4th line ictime. he is the psark on this team. and sorry to say this but it is time for someone else to get a shot. desroches is in over his head plain and simple. he needs another year in s'side. his skating just does not cut it.

and wingman! locke played fantastic in the playoffs last year . would be nice to see him perform like that again. Depends on what you meant by fantastic. Yes he was visible in the '07 playoffs and played a physical game but still only had 1 point in seven games, hardly an offensive breakout. Plus he was getting decent ice time. After those playoffs more is expected/hoped for the upcoming season. What happens this season remains to be seen, but like the rest of the Rocket he is not playing well and no sign of that physical game from the previous playoffs. In the '06 playoffs he once again was visible and playing physical, same as the '07 playoffs, but still only had 1 point in 6 or 7 games. Same thing again going into last season, more expectations, more hopes but had a terrible camp and the regular season was not much better than camp. The thing about Locke is that he has shown in glimpses that he can play well, but for some reason or other he just can't or is not willing to do it consistently.

i was not really refering to his poin totals. but he had a great playoff series. i thought he was very effective. but you are right, would be nice to see him put points on the board. i have to believe he is running out of chances.

Going 0-3 at home to start the season will not be good. Depends on the way you look at it. Another loss at this point could mean another nail in Jean's coffin, something that I don't think many Rocket fans would find disappointing. I don't blame any of the Rocket faithful for being mad, as I would be also. You can't continue to bang your head against the wall expecting different results. I know the name Savard takes a beating around the board here, but I honestly think that the whole family wants to win, and win in Charlottetown. I don't think they like pouring money into the hole in the bottom of the boat just for something to do. I think they know the pressure is on to perform, and they are getting the big hint by the few tickets being sold. Bottom line is I think you'll see Jean go sooner rather than later if the trend continues. As Yogi Berra elloquenlty said in New York, "It gets late early around here." If Jean doesn't turn the Rocket around in a hurry, it's going to get late real early. Although it is a tad early to be beating on the drum, this Rocket club should be a top 4 team this season, in my book, and last season was a bitter pill to swallow. That team last year was a second round team, and although the epic game seven against Bathurst was one for the ages, the wrong team ended up moving on, IMO. Looking at the game, Lewy is coming in with some growing pains. Seven new faces are going to see considerable ice time. The talent and skill is there, and it will be interesting to get your view of them. It's just three games in on the learning curve, and as a result, there will be considerable mistakes. Hang in there, people. What line combo's should we expect in this game psMAINEiac?
