In several different threads there have been comments about DesRoches, Clow, Malouin, Schmidt.....and so on. Not just rookies...but the 17 year old defense. I honestly think that with the way Lessard has played recently and Swit, we could play the rookies as much and be no worse off. Maybe even better. Lessard is still hurt, and being played to exhaustion. Its no wonder hes making mistakes. If we truly want to build a strong defence, we need to throw the kids into all situations and give them a chance to get better and make an impact. If I was coaching right now I would be rolling my lines both foraward and defence, work on developing confidence and depth so that when the second half rolls around, and teams key on vets, the other players will be ready to step up and pick up the slack.

So far im loving the way DesRoches has been playing........I personally think he's been one of our most consistant Fw's.........for what he brings.
Clow needs time........simple. However, he needs to play games to get better, and I hope they continue to dress him.
Hopefully Parker feels better and gets inserted into the lineup as I love his upside he has. Going to be a solid player for this team.

What exactly is Clow doing poorly? I thought he played very well the last 2 games he played. Made 1 mistake the whole game, played the man well, was on for 2 of the 3 goals for. What is he missing that he should not be a regular?

What is he missing that he should not be a regular? I personally never said he was playing poorly........but adjusting to the speed of this league takes a bit of time, and I feel he is not their yet. I feel he needs to be quicker getting rid of the puck, weather it's a pass or a shot....but as I said, that will come with more ice time. I like CLow, and think his offensive skills will surprise a lot of fans when he gets suited.

By the way, I agree DesRoches is playing well. I think Deighan is steady but he takes too many bad penalties

I usually agree with you on most things Score, but hes one of the quickest players on the team, and if I had any criticism of him, its that he moves the puck too quickly. If you are referring to the giveaway the other night as an example....the drop pass was off....he had to adjust to receive it....and had no time to make a good forward pass. The only thing I would like to see him do more is shoot the puck. To me....its confiidence thats hurting him...and if they keep sticking him in, than he will be a lot better off.
I also think Yannick needs to have a little more consistency with his line combos both forward and D so they can get familiar with each other.

I ment that he needs to adjust to the speed of the other players........he's not used to the speed and skill of the opposition that comes at him now. That takes time. He's 17....but he's still a QMJHL rookie and it takes time to adjust to the speed of this league.

I don't think too many people have commented on any rookies play in particular..the only player i see getting singled out really is Swit and he's no rookie
Because some posters (myself included) feel our defense is overmatched due to being loaded with 17 year olds is not a criticism of any player .. it's a criticism of the way the team is put together period
It's not an ideal setup short term or long term to have so many 17 year olds at once.... it's why I feel very strongly some can be used to make a real splash at the xmas trade period to finally ice a legitimate playoff club here on PEI
it's simply an opinion.. but even if you were to keep all our 17 y/o d... what happens in a couple years when they graduate and nobody was here to replace them? I simply feel a team should never carry more than 3 defense of any age group for continuity

Somebody mentioned that desRoches should be returned to Jr just the other day. Said he was too slow.

that's one person and one post
if any criticism of any player made this year is going to bother you that much you'd probably be best off not even reading the boards
for what it's worth i've been pleasantly surprised with Desroches thus far thru pre-season and opening weekend

well i missed the first two games at home , but i have heard that i didnt miss anything so i guess i can not comment directly on our results so far. we must win this game tonight or it will be an uphill battle all year. you are suppose to win at home.
i have stood by coach jean for quite awhile but if this team does not get going he should be fired, within the first 10 games.
