As bad as Tremblay was, he would probably be an improvement over Jean

Not surprised at the outcome of the game, expected actually. Things are bad enough with the Rocket right now, can't be adding to it by being undisciplined and taking stupid penalties.
I don't care what people say, changes need to be made both behind the bench and on the ice and also in the front office if needed be. It's getting to the point where enough is enough with the bullshit. Too many talented players on this team to have this kind of a record and have them playing this way.

They were going on the PP, so they pulled him for the extra man i believe........but that didn't last long as Jeremiah Coooooooon-Cooooooome got a penalty shortly after. Kid looked good tonight though. Coon-Come that is. ya but he didnt come back out, gelinas is in nets now....just don't see the point in putting in a cold goalie with under 5 mins to go in a game u are losing 7-4 Can't be any worse then leaving a goalie who is giving up goal after goal in nets....should have taken LaFleur out before that time, does nothing for him or the team to just leave him in. Dear god, hoping Gelinas starts tomorrow night and that we get at least a win on this roadie, tho truth be told, i think we'll be lucky to get a point and the only good thing to come out of it will be to get rid of the coach.

Fortunately I missed the game. But just had a look a the stats sheet. Funny thing on the Q site results sheet all games are shown as "Final" except ours, It is marked "Finished". Hmmm, I wonder what the editor was thinking ... www.lhjmq.qc.ca/lang_en/index.phpEdit - must be a timing thing between finished and final as it is now listed as "Final" seemed funnny at the time. Two Bench penalties, from the thread it appears they were for to many men. Wonder why the guys can not figure out who's coming and going. ;D On a positive note its good to see Gallant, Coon Come Deighan McKinley Lachaine picking up some points. They must have seen some ice time.

I said it in 2005....WE HATE YOU JEAN.....It is still true today...Fire the god damn coach and fix this team

3 games in a row the Rocket haven given up 6 or more goals in a game.
Last 3 Games GF: 14 GA: 19
Jean is making Lafleur look bad by leaving him on the ice after 5 or 6 goals, and it makes Lafleur discouraged and lose his focus. Lafleur has been making big saves all year round, its the defense that has been doing nothing infront of him. The only expirence on the blue-line is Lessard. We have to the worst defense in the leauge. Four 17 year olds makes up over half of the defense. I'd rather see Jason Swit dressed at least he has experience, although he looks terrible most games. There is nothing wrong upfront on this team, there getting their job done by scoring, but defense is where the work needs to be done. 19 goals scored against you in 3 goals, can they not see a problem? I know for sure Savard and Jean dont see anything.

Lessard has the worst plus minus on the team...followed by Swit. Lessard has only played one game to his potential this season, so lets not put the blame on the 17 year olds alone. As for LaFleur, he has been left out to dry a few times, but hes also let in a pile of soft goals from the perimiter. I think those two guys have to take care of their own game, and let the others worry about taking care of their own game. Theres not a single player on that team that does not share some of the responsibility for their lack of success.
IMO the season for the Rocket has been defined. I don't think we should expect any big improvements. The chemistry is not there.

IMO the season for the Rocket has been defined. I don't think we should expect any big improvements. The chemistry is not there. I agree I don't have any confidence that this organization has the talent to turn this team around. There's lots of potential on the bench but a total inability to harness it. I'd love nothing more than to have to come on here in a months time and admit I was dead wrong on this but I just don't see a turn around happening without better direction.

Better direction is definitely needed on the bench. The talent is there in the players but Jean is just not the man to do it. IMO he's been given way to long to prove himself and now it's time to put someone in there who can get the job done. I don't expect them to win all of there games but they should be doing better than they are.

A few thoughts on the Gatineau game:
Being a Rocket season ticket holder for the first two seasons, I was excited to see the Rocket come to Gatineau, as I am now living in Ottawa.
After witnessing a 7-4 drubbing by Claude Giroux and company I feel bad for the players on the Rocket. They seemed frustrated, hopeless, and giving up, even after the first period. For most of the game, until the score got out of reach, Jean played two lines. I don't think Paynter and MacLean had a shift the entire first period and part way into the second. These two finally got a regular shift when the score was 3 goals or more out of reach. What a shame...and when they finally hit the ice, they worked hard. Even on the many 5-3/4-3 penalty kills, Jean continued to use the top line players and sit guys who would have been fresh and experienced in special teams.
Claude Giroux is a phenomenal talent. He controlled the game from start to finish. He reminded me of Crosby and Radulov at their Q peak with his dominant work ethic and ability to pull off amazing plays at top speed. The entire game I questioned why he was still in junior hockey.
Gatineau are a fast and skilled offensive team with big solid defencemen. Mior was solid, but the only real weakness for the Pics as he didn't face many shots for the goals he let in. Gatineau played disciplined and played a solid game from start to finish. I really wish the Rocket would get an experienced "take no shit" coach like Groulx or Brian Kilrea. Someone who has a model and if you don't follow it...your out the door. The Rocket have the talent...just don't have the drive and direction.
I'm just going to through Brent Sutters name out here. Brent Sutter seems to be the prototype of what CHL teams want as their head coach in this day and age. Many of the players from the Canada/Russia Super Series commented on how Sutter was such a strict coach and allowed no room for error. This is one thing that the Rocket need in a coach. Yannick Jean is a problem for this team. Players should be a fraid to take penalties for fear of being skated into the ground in the next practice. The Rocket take too many penalties. Many of these are bench minors. Lines should be changing at the same time and the players going on should be ready...the Rocket don't do this. The elite players give up because their job is safe and the bubble players keep working for fear of being cut. The problem is that the bubble players don't get a chance at all for a comeback and the elite players give up because neither the coach or manager says boo to them. The elite players get the icetime and give a half assed effort and the game is lost. Plain and simple...new coaching...stat!!
I know we can go on and on with our frustration of Jean...but I'd rather give praises and thoughts on players.
Benoit Gervais- Wasn't the best defenceman but was certainly the hardest working one. I admire Gervais for the effort he puts in even if he fans on a shot and falls flat on his ass...at least he's working.
Danick Malouin- Was under the radar most of the game. Looks to be a bit more physical and came to the aid of McKinley when a Gatineau player was taking liberties.
Jordon Southorn- I have seen him play better, threw a number of solid hits.
Pierre-Luc Lessard- Played a poor game for his standards. Looks lazy and apathetic.
Parker Deighan- Worked hard, played solid for a small defenceman, looks a step behind the Q and might have benefitted another year in Junior A.
Geoff Walker- Played well for most of the game. Skated hard. Made a few bonehead plays, but I think he really needs some good coaching to motivate him.
Chris Doyle- Didn't get the ice time that his play warranted. I think Doyle needs to get into the game more to be effective. Give him the puck and let him shoot. Replace Latal on the top line and put in Doyle. Get the playmakers giving him the puck.
Martin Latal- Consistent play continued. I don't think he will be a top line player. He is great on the pk and a great second line player.
Brandon MacLean- Looked good when he was on the ice. Little ice time. He and Paynter should have played more of a checking role against the speed of Gatineau. Both players are fast and feisty and could have gotten under the top lines skin. Instead, sandbag skaters like Cliche and McKinley lagged and stood like pylons.
Lucas McKinley- I don't really know what his role is. He doesn't check, score, fight, kill penalties. He is tall, but what good is that if he doesn't use it.
Bryan Main- Good solid game from Main. he is steady, takes the body, sets up the play and can rush with his offensive skills.
Bradley Gallant- Gallant looks bigger, skates faster, and his skill is better than what I remember. I think he will add a good leadership component to the team and the other guys seem to like him. Looks to settle players down with a few words on the ice.
Brett Morrison- Great player, but his former team had his number. Defensemen shut him down by clogging the middle of the ice forcing him to go wide and deak. Many times the poke check knocked the puck off his stick.
Jan Kana- Played a solid game. Didn't really see his fiesty side. Looks like a solid player with much upside. Hopefully he gets that much stronger and a threat around the net.
Matthew Lachaine- Was invisible outside of the faceoff circle. Good man on the draw.
Maxim Cliche- Tower of Non-Power. This guy got way too much ice time for what he offered. Big awkward skater. Can't catch his man to check and has hands of stone.
Greg Paynter- Rode the pine most of the game as he does many nights. Was thrown in later in the game when the score was a blowout and still worked hard. Greg has become Jeans new whipping boy and what a shame that is. I think Gregs career would benefit more if he went to the Caps instead of staying with this sinking ship. He is a close friend of our family and it sickened me to see such a hard worker sit on the bench while others lazed on the ice.
Jeremiah-Brien Coon-Come- He looks to be a good prospect for the Rocket. Has the speed and his skill is decent. Small player, but who gives a shit about that anymore? He worked hard and looked like he wants to play at this level.
Antoine Lafleur- Lafleur actually played well for what he had to work with. He made spectacular first and second saves and when the defence should have cleared the puck, the third shot went in. He looks more mobile and experienced then last year. I mean, you really had to see some of the saves to believe them. Nonetheless, the defence sucked and forwards didn't pick up the third man. Don't let the score fool you, if Lafleur gets consistent, he will be an impenetrable force. As a side note...what a kick in the nuts and embarassment to a young man to get pulled with 6:00 minutes left in the third. What horseshit coaching and a real confidence blow...but hey his confidence was blown well before this. Brain fart not to put Gelinas in after the first.
Other than my disgust in coaching...the Robert Guertin arena treated me to excitement in the truest form of junior hockey. The fans were friendly, passionate, and loud. The rink is old with wooden seats and low glass. It felt like a minor hockey rink with major atmosphere. We cheered on the players and they could hear us. Also other fans got under the skin of the Rocket with the low glass. My girlfriend who was with me said she enjoyed feeling part of the game better then the ever so commercial and expensive Sens/Canes game the night before. $14 bucks is the best value in town for Pics/67's hockey. I will certainly be back when other maritime teams come to town.

Antoine did amazing saves last night ! In first period, he kept the team in the game but nobody answered. He was alone.

3 games in a row the Rocket haven given up 6 or more goals in a game. Last 3 Games GF: 14 GA: 19 Jean is making Lafleur look bad... Could it just be that Lafleur is the most overrated goalie in the Q?? Nawww...lets just blame the coach...after all hes letting in the goals not Lafleur.
