Serge talks about the fans supporting his team. What i wonder is why does he not in between periods come "down" to the fans/ walk around and mingle and talk to us. ask us what we think, have a laugh etc. i think it would go along way to having the fans see that , "he" is one of us sort of speak.
Crap he could have worn a costume tonight!! lol
He does himself or team any good stuck in his box seat , arms folded with a scowl on his face.....
Come down and join us Serge..

I agree. Not sure if Savard is the type of person that is able to go around like that or not though as some people are not comfortable with doing that kind of thing or it's just not their nature, but I think it comes with the territory when owning a team. To be going on about people supporting/not supporting the team and but yet he doesn't take an interest in what people have to say or hear their opinions, can't have it both ways.
In Moncton, Irving is always walking around the concourse area, even Charles Wang and Ted Leonsis(?) owners of the NY Islanders and Washington Capitals go around between periods talking to fans and getting input. The owner of a team should be making himself more visible than just locking himself in the owner's box.

jean is gone, so i guess y'all have to find something to complain about. who gives a shit if he comes down, jeeez get a life. This topic has been brought up on these boards before, so it's not a like new "beef" has suddenly appeared since Jean was dismissed. It's something that has also been brought up in conversations by various people around the rink over the last couple of years also. Some people do care enough about it to want to discuss it and just because you don't give a shit about it, doesn't mean that others need to "get a life" because of that.

I saw a beaten man being interviewed during the second period of tonights game ( Serge Sevard ), I would say judging by his body language and his conversation he is as dejected as the fans. I would further state that this franchise will be sold during this season, Serge didn,t appear to be having much fun. And how about his comment to the interviewer that Jean was told at the start of the season that his contract would not be renewed, in other words please look for a new job while carrying out your responsibilities here. ( WHAT IS THAT ) are these Savards capable of running a quality organization, their management skills are highly questionable when dealing with players and coaches.

The Eastlink crew thought that it was strange Savard told Jean at the beginning of training camp his contract wouldn't be renewed. They felt it showed Rocket management had little or no faith in Jean's coaching abilities. I also agree with the above poster that mentioned Savard looked like a beaten man.

nice post hotdog....very useful...please don't waste space on a thread if you have nothing useful to say. just because you don;t care about an issue doesn't mean other don't. just go away.
as far as a beaten man, i know in the third period i watched him in the rocket box and i agree he was not looking very happy. you had the sense he was asking himself , "what do i need to do?"
team being sold? to who?

How many times does Savard need to address that issue? I believe he has done so already this season did he not?

hmmm walle, this is an opinion board, and that is my opinion. if ya don't like it, tough. how many owners do you think mingle with the fans? you think irving in moncton does? i highly doubt it. and doubt most do. but same people have to complain about something.

Irving does go around the crowd in Moncton and gladly talks to people when approached. He doesn't go up to people and start conversations (at least not that I've seen) but at least he makes himself available and is approachable. And as I've said in a previous post, even some NHL owners do it.

why would an owner or gm go around the rink when he knows he will get roasted . even if the rocket were winning , there would be some issues or opinions that as a high ranking official with the team , you wouldnt want to discuss . and why would a gm or owner want to listen to armchair coaches , gms, or owners? maybe we do know a few things , that would maybe help the team...but if you listened to all of us you would end up in the looney bin

Not everyone is going to be telling them how to run the power play or what trades to make. I'm not saying it's never going to happen, but it's not like an owner/gm is is going to be lynched walking through the crowd. Jeff Squires, the Abbies GM, goes into the lounge at Abbies games and has a drink with fans and it doesn't seem to bother him talking with the fans over a beer.
Even just walking through saying hello and exchanging pleasantries with people might give him an idea on what people expect to see or experience at a game, it doesn't necessarily have to be about the on-ice product. Sometimes you can learn alot walking through a crowd and listening to what people are saying about your product.
