Southorn has expressed interest in being traded as well. I recently heard otherwise........the opposite actually. And Clow needs some patience. His time will come.

He has been very patient to date. He gave up a lot to make this commitment. There are no signs of any real opportunity anytime soon, and if hes doing something wrong, hes getting no specific feedback as to what it is or no intrusction to fix it. That has been the most frustrating thing for him. He has no idea what they want him to change. Its not so much about playing time as it is about development.

After the deadline Clow will get his chance. If he was promised a certain amount of ice time when he decided to come here, then perhaps that should not have happened. You always said that you felt as though Jean was not giving Clow a fair shake..........now you mentioning Micalef. Bottom line IMO is, Clow needs to make the best of his ice time. Just as Deighan has. Both are 17yr old Q rookies, and both are working to get their ice time. As of now, Deighan has made the most from his opportunities more so then Clow has.

wingman I don't see any trade value in guys like Paynter or Schmidt
Can't recall where I read it but someone mentioned there was a real lack of 19 year old top pairing dmen available.. that's why i'd strongly consider trading Lessard as if you are truly building for the next 2 years.... why wouldn't you move the players with the greatest potential return value?
I would think guys like Locke, Lachaine and Main would also have some value as depth forwards for contending teams
Just my opinion however but i'll be very disappointed if the team moves one big body and nothing else.. not a sign of a true rebuilding plan

Just my opinion however but i'll be very disappointed if the team moves one big body and nothing else.. not a sign of a true rebuilding plan I agree....but I guess my way of thinking is that we can bring Lessard, the captain, back for next season, and still be able to shop him around at the deadline then, as I see our "go for it year", as the one after next. This way, we have some experience on the backend for this seasons playoffs, and for the first half of next year. Shop Lessard around next season. Give him to a contender so he can have a nice run for himself, and it also helps this team out.

I think you will get much more by dealing him now rather than mid-season at 20.... prices for a 19 year old top dman will be thru the roof
If we keep him we'd be making the Gragnani mistake all over again

Yeah, Halifax would pay a king's ransom for a top 19 year-old d-man.

If we keep him we'd be making the Gragnani mistake all over again No comparison. Gragnani was one of the best offensive defencemen, if not the best....and everyone knew it. Lessard is very ordinary, both offensively and defensively. Trade value for Gragnani would have been much, much higher.

The Rocket should have at least one 19 or 20 year old defenseman for next year, so why not Lessard. If they deal him it's either rely on Gervais to be that defenseman, or they have to go out and get another 19 or 20 year old defenseman which is going to cost alot since prices for a 19 year old defenseman will be through the roof and a 20 year old may not come cheaply either. Unless they can somehow upgrade on Lessard and it doesn't cost them much in the process.

What does the Rocket do for a 19/20 year old defenseman next season, rely on Gervais?

Opportunities? He played 10 seconds last game. I will admit he had a slow start but has been every bit as good as Deighan recently.

Interesting topic Score and I have a few comments. First I continue to be amazed at how people continue to discount Malouin, he really should be included in that group as IMO he has been just as good or better than Clow & Deighan, yet people continue to talk about him separately. I still believe by the end of the season he will really emerge and I really think he will be a solid Top 4 defense next season if given the opportunity. IMO, Deighan has outplayed Malouin to date...as a Q Rookie. Clow has not seen enough ice time to say that either is better.....Though I would rather keep him as he is more offensivly gifted then Malouin. I just have a difference of opinion. Overall I don't think Deighan has been better than Malouin although he has got more ice time. I also think that both Clow & Malouin have better long term potential than Deighan. Just my opinion.
