As a fan who has logged in his time with various teams over the years and continues to do so I have had the pleasure of meeting and discussing the game we all love with fans from all walks of life, whether they be a corporate big-wig or Joe Blow who copped a freebie from the boss.
I’ve always had time to chat about the teams we cheer for and will continue to do so, just not on here.
Recently I went through a lot of posts when this season began and the feeling is dark to say the least.
I try to be an upbeat kind of guy and try to live life on the principal of give good karma, get good karma.
I realize that perhaps our expectations for this season were high and therefore with the start we’ve had things got sour, quickly!
Of course when teams lose fingers get pointed. Sometimes in the right direction and sometimes not so much. Even when we win some still find fault with how players play or coach still made a bad decision, etc.
Some seem to have made it their mission it seems to tear down anything this club does regardless of any gesture by the team to do right.
I find that I am too involved with the club to remain a member on here. I ceased communication on the last board because things became too negative and I fear that is where we are headed here too if certain things don’t happen that some wish would. I’ve bit my keyboard on more than one occasion especially regarding my workplace and how we don’t report a proper story, but I let that slide as that got me grief on the previous board.
Again no finger pointing on my part towards anyone here, I just can’t do this board anymore.
I’m sure I’ll get slagged and flamed following this, but so what, they’re just words written by people I have no idea who they are except for a few and the few I do know I would think you would have to courtesy to say something on here to me in person.
There was a post made about “What To Do” in terms of spreading the word that this team is worth supporting. Season passes are one thing, but corporates are another. I would start by asking some of the big franchises in this city if they have corporate passes and if not….why?
Realistically the fan base for season passes probably would not exceed 2,500, even with marketing up the wahzoo. That's just the reality of economics in the this province.
Corporate passes could equal another 500 easily…giving the team a season pass base of 3,000. Capacity for the CCC is 3,800 + change and most nights walk up tickets would give at least half of the remaining 800 seats.
Instead of the continual crapping on this team, why not offer to volunteer during a ticket blitz at the end of the year manning the phones and drumming up new pass holders, be they corporate, family or individual.
My only advice is remember the P.E.I. Senators. If the Q leaves that’s it. You will NEVER see another higher level of hockey enter this city.
I’ve vented and now I’m sure you will.
Hopefully we’ll have good things to look forward to. Going back to just being CH#00, a fan cheering, not jeering for his team. See ya in the stands.
Reg outta here….permanantly.
