I can't see the City building a parking garage. There is ample parking in the downtown area. If they are just building it for event nights (games, concerts, etc) then it will sit vacant most of the time.

Sure ... but most of those people are already working in the downtown and have parking arrangements already made. I'm sure this could be more convenient for some ... but it also means that a City owned parking spot somewhere else goes unused. If the City is constantly beating their chest that there is ample parking in the downtown ... something like 3000 spaces ... then building another parking garage would seem to make little sense.

The reason to build a garage would be to replace the surface parking we have now & not to add additional parking is how I see it. Building a 4-5 level garage on one plot of land and then develop the larger areas of surface parking to add mixed used Condos/Office space/Retail. Those buildings provide massive amounts of property tax dollars, surface parking does not. The same people who complain online that we don't have enough money to help our hospitals and schools want a giant unlimited sized parking lot in the middle of downtown so they don't have to pay for parking or walk anywhere. They can't have it both ways.

Anybody on this site have any knowledge rumour or otherwise what the STH cost will be for the new site. I think it will be safe to say it will be more expensive and concessions as well

Agreed. The only way it would make sense is if they are also banking on the fact that more parking in downtown Moncton would bring more business to downtown Moncton during regular business hours. I have no idea if that would be a fair assumption or not. If it's only intended to be for the benefit of game/event nights, it definitely wouldn't be worth it.

Where is this parking garage being built? The old Co-op location could be a possibility. The site has been suddenly active this week with machinery on site. Then where would the rats go? The one possible redeeming quality of that spot is, if everything aligned just right, you might be able to have entrance/exit points from multiple streets (Record/Lutz/Assumption). Having people directing traffic inside the garage would help prevent bottlenecks to a certain extent. That being said, given the amount of surface parking in the area, I don't see this as a pressing need.

Moncton city council have voted in favour of spending an estimated 1.4 million on a new scoreboard and video display system.
Sounds like a definite upgrade on what we have at the Coliseum.

Video board is a little over double the size of what the Coliseum has and much better quality Should be a huge improvement

Hopefully they will ditch those loud mouth yapping radio station lot with the constant talking/advertising every few minutes in every period. There has to be a bettter way with something different, I mean how many times does one have to hear that early 80’s tune YMCA.......

Is there an upper section of seating opposite the boxes (beyond the upper right corner of the photo)?
