We will be in Moncton this weekend and are considering taking in the game Saturday night. Any recommendations for parking? This website isn't perfect but it has a map of where all the on street parking is and where some of the lots are www.mybestoption.ca/moncton-north-park-and-walkThe earlier you get there or farther you are willing to walk the more chance you can get a free spot on the street. I doubt it will be a huge crowd given its the 4th game in 8 days and a Quebec team, so you shouldn't have too much of an issue. If you prefer a garage there's one on church street that should have spots, considering the top level was empty for Keith Urban. It isn't all of the private lots. On Highfield there are three different private lots selling event parking ($10), in between Gordon and Main St. The map seems to only show one option.

I believe the lots that are listed are "cooperating with the city" and the other lots are just doing their own thing.

The was one lot at that old Tim’s spot on Main/Weldon and the ole CIBC spot as well that were advertising parking at $20.00 opening night and afternoon Sunday game as well. There were not many takers at that price, didn’t see it there last nights game though.

If somebody has a lot close to the Coliseum and wants to charge $10, I'm ok with that, but $20 is downright gouging and hopefully nobody pays it.

I think I'd pay the $20 for a closer spot. Most of the lots charging an event fee are pretty much empty. People are using on-street parking and walking for the most part. It is not a big deal yet. Those nearby lots may fill up when the weather gets colder. I know of one person paying $200 for the season to park at the old bus terminal parking lot off Bonnacord. Thats $5.88 per game (if you go to all 34 home games) ... and cheaper the further you go in the playoffs. Probably HST added to that price though.

I really have no issue with someone charging $20 directly across from the centre if they think someone will pay it. Its not like there isn't dozens of options both free or cheaper if you are willing to walk. The guy bringing his family of 4 who doesn't want to deal with listening to his kids complain about the long walk or maybe isn't as mobile is probably fine paying $20. I wouldn't pay it myself of course. I'd imagine ill be able to get through most of the season without paying even $1 for parking. I suspect as it gets colder you'll see a few more people take the bus, most routes will drop you off right at the door and pick you up at the door. You can wait inside the main entrance and stay warm until the bus arrives. That should help free up some of the spots and relieve some stress on the fact that all the streets might not be cleared.

Wonder if they’ll push the game on the 24th back to 8 or if they’ll just move the Christmas parade to a different day because i know it’s supposed to start at 5 but it’ll be interesting

I can't see the bus as an option for me. I still have to walk to the bus stop, wait for the bus to show up, and walk back home from the bus stop after. That walking is no different than parking a distance away from the rink and walking back and forth ... except I don't have a bus fare. Plus, I'd have to get a transfer at Champlain Place (I live off Shediac Road) which will be at 10:00 PM so the doors will be locked and I'll be waiting outside in the cold again. I prefer to set my own schedule also. I'm happy to take my car and park on-street and walk a little.

I tried the bus with my family on opening night just for the hell of it. We parked at Champlain and took the blue line. Cost us $12.50 for 5 of us. The driver said because it's a sellout the ride back is free but if it's a crowd of under 6,000 they will charge for the ride back as well. So on a typical night it would cost $25 for my family to take the bus about 5km total - and I still have to drive home from the mall. That pretty much eliminated bussing as an option for me. I can cab it for less than that. On the plus the experience was great. zip right up to the front door and zip right out after. It would make sense for a single person or a couple.

Okay ... never thought of parking at Champlain and taking the bus back and forth. That's not so bad. Is a one way fare $2.50 ?

You can get a group day pass for $14, good for 5 people and unlimited fares for that day. Would be good if they encouraged the drivers to promote that if they notice any families boarding. I dont think you can buy them from the driver but if it means some repeat customers it would be to their benefit. More people using the bus means better service for everyone. You can also buy passes in bulk and cut the fare down 70-80 cents per trip if you were 1-2 people that wanted to use the bus for some games.

So $5 for return - unless it's a crowd over 6,000 then the way back is free. I'm not sure how you're supposed to know that before hand but keep an extra $2.50 in your pocket I guess.

The city has been announcing it the day of the event on their FB page typically.
