I tried the bus with my family on opening night just for the hell of it. We parked at Champlain and took the blue line. Cost us $12.50 for 5 of us. The driver said because it's a sellout the ride back is free but if it's a crowd of under 6,000 they will charge for the ride back as well. So on a typical night it would cost $25 for my family to take the bus about 5km total - and I still have to drive home from the mall. That pretty much eliminated bussing as an option for me. I can cab it for less than that. On the plus the experience was great. zip right up to the front door and zip right out after. It would make sense for a single person or a couple.

We arrived a little later than usual tonight and found ourselves at the concessions when the anthem started playing. I was surprised to see that concessions sales continued during the anthem. At the coliseum concession staff always stood back from the counter and sales were suspended. Is it just me or does it seem disrespectful for concessions to keep selling during the anthem?

Personally I would wish the anthem playing would stop at sports events, the military jingoism on display at much of USA sports gets a tad silly in my view.

Unlikely to be any time soon but if it were to happen I would put my money on MLS, simply because their sport is so much more international than other leagues from the players to fans. NFL and MLB are the epitome of American patriotism and chest beating, and the NHL although fairly international itself is way too conservative and traditional to ever be this progressive. NBA is perhaps a dark horse. They have become more progressive recently in allowing things like ads on jerseys and growing the game around the world. Plus their demographic is much less conservative than football or baseball.i just thought about this way too much lol

If the fans had a say, I'd agree MLS in a heartbeat. But Garber & co seem hell bent on emulating the other US pro leagues and distancing themselves from anything remotely controversial. My guess would actually be the QMJHL; aside from some older traditionalists mostly in the maritimes, they'd probably get no backlash from fans. I'm betting most Quebec fans would shrug it off/embrace it, including a lot of the federalists.
LOL just realized I triggered a hell of a thread drift

How do they keep people from parking at the sobeys during wildcat Games? There's a parking company (indigo) that is managing all of the lots along Canada street. They have signs as well as attendants there at each entrance, the signs indicate at sobeys and shoppers that it is for customers only, and they will direct you to the via train station or the lot behind the 1222 main st for paid parking. I believe its $10.

Anyone hear the official attendance for the ufc? I’d guess 5500 but hard to tell. What a great even to bad it wasn’t sold out as I doubt it will return with such a poor turn out

Atmosphere was terrible lol. Might have heard a few claps and the off whistle but crowd was dead. Fighters had a hard time getting a high five heading into the ring
