Atmosphere was terrible lol. Might have heard a few claps and the off whistle but crowd was dead. Fighters had a hard time getting a high five heading into the ring Unfortunately MMA has crashed harder then any mainstream sport I can remember over the last 3-4 years. It's funny that the bigger draws like Connor, Brock when not in WWE, and Rousey before her WWE run sold more PPV's then anyone but literally outside of those 3 and maybe a few others who no longer fight like GSP they have essentially stopped building stars and fights that fans want to see and have turned off their audience due to over saturation. So now rather then a big fight every month or 2 there's just 10 fights every Saturday from somewhere in the world and maybe twice a year you get a big card that the casual fans want to see that is headline by one of the people I mentioned above. Personally I see it within my own friend group where we went from watching every main UFC PPV card and knowing who all 5 champions where to not knowing when the next card is or who half the champions are. And the idea of a card as close as Moncton would have meant a definite road trip where now it wasn't even a consideration and by the looks of the attendance numbers, in a brand new building at that, we're not the only ones who have lost interest. I'd expect a card from UFC to pull in people not just from Moncton but SJ, PEI, Halifax and all areas in between so under 6500 for an audience has to be considered a huge disappointment.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_eventsThat link shows all of the live UFC events and the attendances for each. Moncton's attendance was low, but pretty decent compared to some fight nights in much larger cities. The first fight night in Halifax drew 10,700 and was one of the best events I've ever been to. However, the 2nd fight night in Halifax drew around 8100 and wasn't nearly as good by comparison. I think the novelty wore off from the first one. UFC will probably wait two years and come back to Halifax for another fight night. I'm sure UFC use their fight nights not only to draw gate from different regions of the world, but also to spread awareness and hype about their product to different regions of the world. But I agree that this process waters down the product significantly.

For all the soft whiners still out there complaining about parking and walking in the cold (Figure it out and dress warm)....
A new parking lot being built right beside the events centre (Facing Canada Street) is almost complete, obviously didn't spend time counting it but it looks to be at least 100-150 spots
Still gotta pay your $10 though

The good old days of 1 ppv/month and the odd Fight Nite on SpikeTv. Looked very forward to every card. Never missed a show back then. Now I only tune in for the main event for a big name. They started watering it down probably 8-9 years ago.

Unfortanutely a ton of damage was done over the years with urban sprawl across the city (not a moncton specific problem) and the development of power centres. This created a car culture here probably worse than any large city in the maritimes. Not to mention there was some bad planning done years ago where the city allowed so many private parking surface lots in the downtown core that is hard to reverse. If you look at overhead shots it is quite ugly just how much surface parking exists. The issue is with better planning they would have found ways to encourage underground parking. Things have turned around in the past 5 years and are now moving in the right direction, most new apartment structures and condos are now including underground parking in their builds. The long term plan the city has published has most of the surface lots going away slowly and replaced with larger projects that generate tax dollars & multi level garages to better use the space..but it will take awhile. In the meantime Im suprised people still discuss the parking issue whatsoever, as has not been an issue at all. Lots of spaces nearby for a fee, or arrive early and grab a street spot for free within a 5-10 min walk. The bus can be an ok option depending what your situation is.

Halifax is a car culture too, if you live outside the city. Parking lots and street parking is limited though. Cycling lanes are coming in, etc. I have a car, but I have no issues using public transit to make my life easier when need be.

Monster truck show looks like it has about 1000 tickets sold. I'm honestly shocked they still bother with indoor monster truck shows.

Email from the Wildcats re new entrance for STH - gate #4. Will have to see if that is good or not. It will be a welcomed addition, especially with bigger crowds. I know its not often, but with Timbit weekend coming up, our "Go for it" team I am sure there will be bigger crowds in the second half. The Dec 28 game was 7000, I arrived 3:30 and it was backed up to the lights lined up for the doors.

I found a photo on google showing exactly where door #4 is located and I think it's well positioned and with the larger crowd it will be great. After going in by that door, I am sure we will still make a little detour through the lobby area as my children will still want to get their free promo stuff and see Wild Willie 😂. Nice to see the Cats being proactive and doing something good for their STHs.

The Canada-Russia game was also on at that time and so I think once the Russians went up 3-0, everybody decided to leave their homes and all arrived at the same time. It was a big crowd but it shouldn't get backed up like it did.

Following the rules to the letter slows down admittance.
