I'm surprised it was that long to start out. I expected say a 5 yr deal ... work out the things they don't like and then sign a longer term deal after that. Well we are now stuck with our Q team ... lol The Irving letter on Wildcats web site didn’t mention a time line on contract for new facility, not that I saw anyway. What it did say was commentary on past 20 years for Cats at the old barn. Like you said a 20 yr contact would be surprising, Irving may not be the owner, hell he may not be alive by then. Letter said that STH package and pricing etc available by mid February, also working with city and lot owners on parking.

Any chance the Event Centre management read this tweet? I've never heard of too many people staying away from Wildcats games because of concession prices. Nothing is really outrageously priced. You can buy a pizza for the same price as a pizza you'd buy outside of the arena. Domestic beer is $5.50. Theres an on site Mexi's where you can get tacos and chips for around 10$. Tims is also regularly priced. No one is really being gauged to come to the coliseum. I would say ticket prices to bring a family probably hurts them more than concessions as we have high prices for childrens tickets compared to other arenas. The fact that people love "unlimited pop" at NFL games kinda makes me wanna puke though. Yuck. People in Moncton do seem to love deals and handouts though so I'm sure it couldnt hurt. Maybe something they could do during weeknights Myself I am hoping for more quality in terms of vendors. My understanding is that a brewpub is supposed to be setting up something inside the event centre which is nicely on trend. Pizza that isn't greco would be nice, not even sure how they are still in business. Coffee that isn't Tim's would be nice too..but im not an average Monctonian guzzling down 3 double doubles everyday. The Tim's is generally always busy in the Coliseum and I dont see any other coffee company setting up shop in a Moncton arena unless Starbucks decided to. For the most part for me though I care more about the game environment and atmosphere, any of the vendor choices that are improved will just be a bonus as its not a dealbreaker for me, most games I don't buy anything.

I am not convinced there will be wild fluctuations up or down in the STH base and overall per game attendance will be close to what it has been past number of years. Yes, concession prices at the barn were quite reasonable, beer Tims, fries, burger and hotdogs etc. Suspect it the same or very close at the new spot with perhaps a tad more variety. I know I prattled on ad nausea on this but hope the constant yapping/advertising by the dolt radio station lot is kept at a reasonable level, and FFS change up the music the 1970-80s are long passed.

More shocking than the 20 year length of the deal, SMG has 100% of the concession rights. Plenty of people said that issue would be what would make Irving sell the team. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that negotiation.
I wonder if they made a deal where Cavendish gets access to 3-4 of the booths at a discounted rate. There is way more concessions areas (12-15) to be filled than in the coliseum so locking up those slots long term would help both parties.

I'm sure there were concessions on both sides, there is a bigger stream of revenue in the new rink... -more dates filled with big events -more seats so more gross revenue -private boxes which did not exist at the Coliseum -more room for fans in the mezzanine and more vendors...should lead to more revenue per fan If you make the pie bigger then both sides can win. One thing that has not been brought up is, and this is outside the box, I wonder if with this being a big area for workers during the day, have the concourse open for walking and a few vendors open for lunch?

More seats does not necessarily mean more revenue ... you still have to fill them. With whiny people worried about parking and walking 10 mins there could be a drop in revenue.

You are correct, still equates to more POTENTIAL revenue. If they can make it as accessible as the Coliseum(parking), then they can bring in more total fans...especially in big games, with promotions or during playoff runs. There is also the fact that the worst seats in this building are better than the worst ones at the Coliseum, that might make it more attractive.

Seat Size will also attract a few folks...lots of taller people in Moncton complain about banging their knees against the seats in front...actually speaking as a shorter person I should say lots of average height people. The building will never be as accessible as the coliseum. We are probably a few years away from a parking garage getting built near the arena. There are no signs on government money for a $20 million dollar parking garage at this point and its unlikely a private investor builds one due to the cost. The hope is that the building amenities, atmosphere, vendor selection, and ability to make a day or night out of going to a game due to location compensate for the inconveniences of not having on site parking.

Speaking of promotions, I was at a Tims outlet this afternoon and saw coupons for $3.00 off door ticket prices for a Halifax and another game. Seems it has already started, guess attendance seems to be on their minds....

O/K, that is what I will do next season, take advantage of those promotions at specific games as not gonna renew as a STH.

O/K, that is what I will do next season, take advantage of those promotions at specific games as not gonna renew as a STH. That's too bad. You'll be missing out on one of the most exciting Wildcats seasons in recent memory. BTW, those $3 off coupons have been around for years now.
