Update:
Recovery going slower than hoped. Projected to return in February. Latest is he plans on coming to Moncton rather than stay in Russia.

It was written in an article by Corey Pronman of The Athletic. If I were to guess, I'd say Khovanov will come to Moncton after the Christmas break to practice with the team until he's ready for game action.

Coming to the Q for 2 months of hockey before the draft would mean he can't play AHL at 19 and would have to play another 2 seasons in the Q.

Coming to the Q for 2 months of hockey before the draft would mean he can't play AHL at 19 and would have to play another 2 seasons in the Q. Wouldn't that depend on his transfer agreement with the KHL team? Unfortunately not even this stuff is black and white. It's all depending on the contract language that doesn't even currently exist with him not being in Moncton. If he comes over then that agreement will determine his AHL eligibility. Not whether he's drafted as a CHL player or not.

Could be one of those things where he's on loan to the Cats from his KHL team, which in theory would keep his AHL eligibility. Hischier had a lot of the same talk about that last year being on loan from his Swiss club and eligible for the AHL, but I don't if there was even an official ruling on that.

And as we've learned recently that agreement really only applies to North American CHL players. Europeans are determined based on their transfer agreement between their old club and the CHL team as there's a loophole allowing them to play CHL but still be considered a European for AHL eligibility.

I get that. But what is the rule? He has to play a certain amount of games? or a certain amount of time?

Theres a picture of Khovanov on his instagram story of him in a wildcats shirt and jacket just posted today For what it's worth there is also a picture out there of Sokolov with his family and his father has a wildcat shirt on. Apparently the Wildcats send a care package over to there euros or euros there talking to.
