I mean it’s what he was playing in the khl so he must be pretty solid back there It's the area of weakness on the team so hopefully he comes and plays steady. Did he play defence earlier in his career ? Not sure but wonder if this spells the end of auger if le coultre doesn’t attend the wjs or are they more or less leaning towards moving Welsh for assets because I doubt they carry 8 d for long

I think it's between him and Arsenault with Tucker staying since he's younger. But hopefully it's Welsh being moved for assets.

He will be used on defence. Regularly? Not sure how much I like that idea... Guess I'll give him a few games before knocking the idea. They need a d-man a lot more than another forward...though Miromanov was a forward most of his career I think...

It's not like they can't put him back on forward if it doesn't work out. If he was playing defence in the KHL against men he would have gained some good experience to use now at a lower level of hockey. If he's an instant top 4 dman thats a huge help to the Cats. Welsh is playing 30+ minutes a game at this point because hes getting shifts with every other dman plus on both special teams units.

They certainly need better defensive defencemen, there defence has been terrible as of lately, hopefully Miromanov can help them.

Tessier and Grametbauer?? Pataki or Macrae if there is a market...

Alright there is one, now when do we hear about Khovanov? Hell we are on month 7 now ( trip was in June). He even wrote in what was it Mid September when he put on his own twitter that “it was time to show what he was capable of” assuming at least training....
It’s also a damn shame that our defence is so porous and weak that we need to bring back a high caliber forward easily over a point per game to play the back end( even though he has played it and I am not saying he is bad) is that the beat use of this asset? We aren’t exactly lighting the league on fire in offence either these days. Wil his defensive contribution make it more 2-1 wins or would his offence make it more 6-4 wins??? Just feels like a weird call. I do see the merit ( our current shitty defence)but always viewed him as coming in to be an offensive threat!

I read somewhere that all he’s waiting for is a positive blood test to resume playing and if all goes well then he’ll be here after christmas

We haven't heard anything since though.

Could have just moved Welsh to begin with .

Desjardins was not seeing a ton of ice time at the time he was traded. Big hindsight situation with that one. I' happy for him that he's gone on to see some success with Charlottetown but at the time of that deal there was a logjam on D and he was a 20 year old bottom pairing defenseman. Either they thought Miromanov was coming right away or they wanted to free up time to play Bellamy and the other younger D and move Desjardins to a team who he could play top 4 with. At that early time in the season no one was predicting the success the Islanders would have.

I know you love to come to every teams board to find some way to post negatively since the Titan are in first but he was not playing like a #3-4 at the time he was traded. In fact he was a healthy scratch a few times. At the moment the Cats have Welsh who is a clear #1, Aspirot who is a solid#4 an the rest are bottom pairing/developing dmen. You must have missed the part where Miromanov already has his paperwork & will be in the lineup Thursday. There is no more waiting. I'm interested to have a look at Miromanov on D. He skates well and has good size and hands. Hockey IQ is a big need right now on the backend for the Cats right now so hopefully he brings some of that too.
