That is the frustrating part with this team. Shannon keeps going against the grain trying to prove he is an evil genius...he blows a pile of assets in the process. The MacDonald and Sylvestre deals are examples of making your life a lot harder than it should be and pissing away assets in the process... At least with McDonald you're adding a guy for 3 years in the league that you could likely re-sell at 19 He could have drafted MacDonald with the first round pick he had last year instead of trading out of the first round. That would have used one pick, which they had. Instead, he traded three(?) picks for him a year later, effectively pissing away 2 extra, and very valuable assets. He is overpaying for Sylvestre. The beat writer's comment is " great trade for Shawinigan". He loses every single trade he makes. Shannon is a brutally horrible GM. ****!!!!!!

It’s just history repeating it’s self, or is it just Roger Shannon repeating himself again. Either way I think we lose

Wonder if any team will acquire the rights to Sam Girard ? Down to playing between 8-12 mins per game. Only 2 points since joining Avs and was -3 last night. Highly unlikely that he returns to the Q but you never know.

I’ve read reports of another piece that is part of the Sylvestre trade. Could be that.

He's definitely playing pro next year

At least with McDonald you're adding a guy for 3 years in the league that you could likely re-sell at 19 for a good return. There is very little upside to the Sylvestre trade now as it is being reported. I wouldn't be surprised if the cats decide to hold onto Welsh out of some misguided belief that they are contenders. My issue with the MacDonald trade is that he was right in their damn back yard, he was also in the Atlantic and national MAAA finals, they had the pick to grab him in 2016...and they decide to trade back 12 times to get Noah Freaking Massie...then turn around a year later and trade a boatload for MacDonald.

It’s unfortunate but I don’t see any team beside the Wildcats, pay anymore for players then we do, nor do they get as little as we do when we go to trade them, Shannon is certainly not a master negotiator. Time for a change.

I think the pressure of the Cats bidding on the memorial cup is inflating the prices in favor of the competition. Shannon needs to have a presentable roster on the table for when April rolls around. I figure that's why he is making these overpayment trades. He can't wait until the offseason and pay a similar price to what he did with Welsh last offseason (3rd & 6th). So the idea isn't to compete this year with Sylvestre, its to present a roster to the Memorial Cup committee.
