I highly doubt you'll be seeing those two in Moncton in 2018/2019. The Waite trade has already been talked about on another thread. As for Arsenault, I don't see room for him once their new draft picks and free agents are announced. Has there been any news on who Moncton has interviewed for the GM job? Understandably they will likely play a minor role in the draft but you would assume that you would want one in place so that their vision of the teams future can help guide them in what they do during this period. Next weekend’s draft and Import Draft are Ritchie’s to run. My guess is interviews will take place in July. An announcement to name the new GM before training camp.

I am a little surprised how quiet Hodge has been on this ... I seem to recall in the past, when there were vacancies in hockey ops, we would get a series of articles speculating on potential candidates, drumming up fan interest in the team - even for relatively minor roles like assistant coaches. Now, facing perhaps the most important strategic hire of the decade, crickets ... kind of odd. One place to keep an eye on for clues might be the charity golf tournament - in past years my memory tells me that candidates for vacant positions were sometimes added as celebrities for the tournament. Speaking of which - is it me, or has the calibre of celebrities at this thing faded a bit? No offense to the guys they are touting for this year, but there are not too many who would tempt me as a business owner to open up my wallet for the chance to spend a day with .. I am sure they are great guys - just a bit lacking in name appeal ...

I remember the Wildcats had an ad posted last summer on Career Beacon and Job Bank, along with the Irving website, for the assistant coach and goalie coach. I haven't seen anything like that regarding the GM job. Maybe because it's a more highly regarded position. Maybe they haven't even started accepting resumes yet. Ritchie is helping with the recruiting so I'm assuming he will tell Irving when it's time to start the search.

The draft I understand, if he's not already in the league then he couldn't really choose the players. It's the trade period aspect that you'd want to the GM to be a part of so that they could move forward with their plan.

RT will likely just be making minor moves around the roster but the core stays the same. Next midseason they'll have to decide what they do with their 19 year olds and OA's...

Kidding aside, I thought I had read somewhere that he still owns a home in Moncton - could be wrong on that, though.

Theo Rochette has been added to the Central Scouting List. He's a dual citizen (Swiss/Canadian) and is considered to be one of the top 2002 born players in the world. He plans on being in Quebec next week to meet with teams. His agent is Pat Brisson. www.eliteprospects.com/player/291301/theo-rochette

2018 & 2019 2nd round picks. That would give Moncton 3 picks in this year’s 2nd round. I don't really see the point of doing that unless they are only going back 3-4 picks. The big advantage a late 1st has over an early 2nd if that you can gamble on an NCAA destined kid and still get a compensatory pick if he doesn't show up. Doubt a trade like that would even be finalized at this point. Wouldn’t the team trading up want to see if the guy they want is still available at 18 before making the deal? As for the Cats end of things I don’t mind getting more picks but at a certain point you have to actually make the selections instead of trading back seemingly every single year.
