I thought this game deserved its own thread since we haven't had a game day thread at all for this series.
First goal is always critical in this series. I think yesterday was the first game where the team scoring first didn't win.
They have certainly surprised in this series with solid defensive play ... which is frustrating in itself since we should have been playing that way all year.
I can see this game going to OT ... another low scoring affair.
No time to be tired ... you can be tired after the game ... leave it all on the ice.

Rimouski will go all out tomorrow night, pull out all their stops, however first goal(or two) will set the barometer on the intensity.

www.journaldequebec.com/2018/04/02/beausoleil-sexcuse-ses-propos-envers-grametbauerThis is making news in the big Quebec dailies about the coach of Oceanic waking cats up. It reminds me of in 2013 when Halifax had gone up to QC and beat the rempart really badly and then there were some bad hits and the refs lost control of the game. Lots of penalties and bad blood. But the 2 teams had another encountered scheduled in Halifax not long after. The following week mooseheads coach ducharme was asked by John Moore about the battle against Quebec. Ducharme was asked a question about if Patrick Roy was maybe trying to get his players motivated by saying things in media. Ducharme said simply something to the effect that I coach my team and let them worry about what they do over there on that team. There is a lesson here. It's never a good idea to discuss players on other teams. A simple that's not my job should suffice.

Scenario A: My heart wants a Wildcats Win. 3-2 overtime. Campanelli with the winner.
Scenario B: My mind tells me a big Oceanic win. 5-1 50 shot night. Lafreniere with a hat-trick.
Hoping it's a good game and the Cats can pull off some magic! They need MacDonald & MacKenna to step up big time.

Apparently the Q has decided discipline will be issued to Beausoleil for his comments in the media re: Grametbauer - and get this ... the discipline will be announced at 5 pm today! Only the Q would announce discipline on something that happened days ago a couple of hours before puck drop for game 7 ... can you imagine if they announce Beausoleil is suspended for tonight's game? Why the hell would you wait until 5 pm to make an announcement - it sounds like a decision has been reached - just announce the damn punishmentfirst thing this morning and be done with it ... what a gong show ...

Hopefully tonight is a better game.

As ridiculous as his comments about individual players on an opposing were. I think it was a very stupid and classless thing to do but the league should leave it be. He knows he shouldn't have made those comments by now. I'm guessing his peers and even management have probably said something. He will learn or eventually be pushed out of the league all together. There are lots of coaches out there that would love to coach in the Q.

Criticism of a player should not be tolerated by an employee of another team. These are still kids and their parents send them away to learn the game. No kid should be criticized in the media by an adult from another team. Parents don't send their kids here for that to occur. It does nothing but harm to the player and doesn't look good on the league ... and could harm recruiting. I think what you are eluding to by saying "we live in Canada not Russia" is that you live by the mantra that we have freedom of speech here. We do ... you can say whatever you want to say ... but that doesn't mean that you don't have to face consequences for your words from your employers if they deem it necessary. He won't go to jail for it ... the Government won't force him to shutup and throw him in prison ... he won't be executed. It will likely just be a fine.

I think they brought this rule in back when Patrick Roy was making a regular habit of running his mouth off in the media to play mind games with the other teams. Personally, I think it adds a little spice to things - ratchets up the rivalries, probably leads to more fan interest and higher attendance, all of which are good things. There are lines that should not be crossed, same as players on the ice can chirp but are subject to being penalized if they crossed the line. A slap on the wrist fine to Beausoleil or the organization I can live with - donate the proceeds to an anti-bullying initiative of some sort ... but a suspension, especially several days later, and for a game 7 to boot, would be absurd - but with the incomprehensible nature of Q discipline, who knows?

I think the Q is giving Beausoleil a little of his own medicine. They want him to think about it all day and have it on his mind while he tries to prepare for the game. I like it.

Patrick Roy made a living out of stirring shit in the papers and nobody ever accused him of having class and he got an NHL coaching job...
