Sounds like Gray was picked up for additional depth and for call ups when needed. Gaudreault has earned the back up spot, sure the Saint John game wasn’t his best but it’s hard to lay the blame on him for getting hung out to dry Is that the team's position or your opinion? I want to believe Gaudreault is a solid back up, but he didn't stop anything vs SJ. Sure the cats were outmatched, but your goalie's job is to give you a chance. If they were just looking for an AF goalie, MacDonald is in Truro, about 90 minutes away.

They needed to cut Waite loose when he proved he wasn't Q caliber and give Gaudreault some games in the 2nd half so they find out what they have in real games.

I was looking at the last few drafts in relation with this camp, it looks as though only one pick will be on the team from the 2016 draft in Hudson...not good when you have 8 picks in the top 6 rounds(6 in rounds 5 and 6). Hard to be "good every year" with drafts that poor.
2015 was a decent draft with Cyr McKenna and Aspirot coming out of that draft. Crossman turned out pretty good but they gave up on him early on. 5 picks in the top 10 rounds never reported.
The 2017 draft is driven by Pelletier, losing Bellamy and Jacques plus Vanier busting really hurts and leaves a big hole on D. Stewart Rumsey Foreman S.Stewart and Gaudreau could be contributors.
2018 looks pretty good so far, but we will need a couple years to make a definitive analysis.

Thankfully they're all gone. 2017 and 2018 look much better. Ideally there would be some higher end defencemen in the pipeline but it's not the scouting staff's fault that Rumble completely botched Bellamy and Shannon took a gamble on Jacques that didn't pay off.
