I am not a fan of using euro picks on d I wasn't a fan of it originally either but in this case..... when you look at how most of our D panned out when we did pick one in the Import Draft, plus how other teams have done with it.... We draft a Euro D this year and add a semi-cheap Q veteran type guy, and our D is pretty set and solid. Depending on who we pick in the first couple rounds of the QMJHL draft this year, that may be the best option we have to round out the roster.

We have zach bouthillier ,Mathias Savoie an tommy da Silva. I think you’ll see da Silva moved this weekend.( pure speculation on da Silva being moved)

A top rated Euro goalie could be an option as well... We have zach bouthillier ,Mathias Savoie an tommy da Silva. I think you’ll see da Silva moved this weekend.( pure speculation on da Silva being moved) If you were to draft a high end 17 YO Euro Goalie, you accomplish three things: A Goalie that fits the cycle, Bouthillier becomes a trade-able asset, and you free up a 20 YO slot on the roster. Would be a great option if you get an elite goale to commit.

Good read in this article. www.lenouvelliste.ca/sports/aux-autres-clubs-detre-plus-persuasifs-934e892c06859f40d627063983c56e11Google Translated. Quebec - The Sea Dogs make a name for themselves at the QMJHL Assises. First because they hold the first choice of auction on Saturday, favored by the draw. But also because some clubs, like the Cataractes, openly question their way of working their recruitment. In an interview at Le Nouvelliste on Wednesday, scout leader Mario Carrière targeted the Sea Dogs, who managed to convince three recalcitrants to join them after claiming them later than planned last year. It was not the first episode of its kind in the franchise story. Managing director Trevor Georgie, however, strongly refutes allegations of beatings. And he invites his partners to look in the mirror. "What we do at home is selling everything the league can bring to our players. We take the time to talk to families, mothers, it's a work of several months. Every family is different. Each financial situation is different. And we do not accept a no easily, "says the great manitou Sea Dogs, who ensures not to offer money under the table to families to change their minds. "We work in the parameters of the league. These are good parameters, we can offer good packages ... I think that young people are sometimes just badly informed of all that our league can do for them. We are working hard on our side to demonstrate it. " In the same breath, Georgie is surprised to see so many players aiming at American colleges this year. "It sucks me. What surprises me most is the number of francophones. As a league, we talked about it, we must find solutions because they are talented guys that we do not want to lose, "he says. "For me, the first thing to put in place is a standard in terms of supervision. You look at the Ivy League in the NCAA, the facilities are similar, the education too, the scholarships are similar. In our league, it's different. I received a player in a transaction last year, he arrived with his belongings in a garbage bag! Examples like that, I can give many. And it hurts the entire league because it is discussed between players, between parents. Teams who criticize us for the way we work should ask themselves if they really are doing everything they can to properly coach their players ... " "We have an open mind" Holders of the first choice in 2019, the Sea Dogs could very well haggle this position in the coming hours. "It's fantastic to have won the lottery. There are 4-5 teams that want our choice, the idea is to keep an open mind. They have the values to get it, but these values are not on the table for now. As we speak, I would say that there is a 70% chance that we keep our selection. But the percentage may vary if you ask me the question in two hours! The closer we get to Saturday morning, the more serious the discussions, "says Georgie, who swears that her organization has not yet determined who she will call the microphone first if she still holds the first choice Saturday at 10 am. "We still have meetings, and some meetings with a small group of players on our agenda. We thought we'd be fishing around the 5th rank before the lottery, so we had identified a group of seven players we liked a lot. If we keep our choice, the decision will not be easy but we know that one way or another, we will get in touch with a franchise player. "

I figured the trade for Guay and the other 20 year old that Georgie mentioned in the TJ the other day would have been made official this morning when the trade window opened.

If Saint John trades the first pick, my guess will be Gatineau as the trade partner. Should be an entertaining draft.
