Personally I think the Dogs should take Roy unless they can make some type of a move to get a top three pick and another one in the top 10 or a high end 17 year old in the deal. If they can't get that take Roy. I'm not sure if management think Robidas, Reynolds or , whynot are just as good as Roy but Roy seems to be what we need.

If we trade 1, Val D'Or holds 2 and 6 which could make for a sweet deal (we'd still get one of Roy or Robidas). Moncton has 3, but doesn't have anything else to add to a package that we would want (plus it would make more sense for us to try to straight up buy pick 3 than to trade down given their situation). Gatineau at 4 is absolutely loaded with picks, but the drop to 4 is a huge one IMO (Whynot or L'Heureux) so we would need them to badly overpay to acquire 1 (They have 4 and 13 this year, plus their, Halifax's, Bathurst's and BLB's 1sts next year).

I have faith that whatever happens is gonna make sense and pan out.
I know there’s been lots of skepticism (to put it lightly) regarding the ability of our admin to get the job done but I’m confident - the future is bright, better grab your shades 😎

I was a skeptic when Trevor Georgie was first handed control of the team due to his complete lack of experience as a GM/hockey guy at any level, but he's more than proven himself a quick study and capable GM since then. Some people still bitch about ticket prices and stuff I guess but that doesnt really apply to "ability to get the job done" and any "bright future" really, at least regarding on ice success. Unless maybe you meant coach Dixon? He seems to get trashed a lot in certain circles I suppose. For myself, the jury is still out on him. The last two years our teams have been terrible so its hard to evaluate or overly blame him. I don't think many coaches could have coaxed out better results in the win/loss column with those teams. This year though we should be much improved. If we're still down at or near the bottom of the standings this year...I can see a big change coming fast similar to how McCain didn't play around and brought in the big guns of Gallant and Kelly back in the day.

I really don’t know if there is still the skepticism that was prevalent a while back. Maybe the skeptics have become believers. I agree with your take on the coach, we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

I'm sure there's still a group of haters lurking in the shadows made by the broadcast booth at the Avenir Centre in Moncton just waiting for Trevor Georgie to make a bad trade or do something wrong so that they can show up at Harbour Station, two cups of Timmies in their hands, and let everyone know how bad he sucks.

Landmark season but he sputtered out.

HP thought Joshua Roy's compete level wasn't high enough and his acceleration and first step needed work. I think Robidas probably passed Roy in their eyes because of his playoffs and Telus cup and Roy didn't have as good of an end to his season and Gatorade challenge.
Either way we should get a very good player. Personally I would like to see us go with Roy who is bigger.

The old Draft Thoughts thread has become rather dead and the draft is almost here so lets bring this one back to life.
I kinda hope we can't/don't trade down. I also hope we don't reach for a defenseman like Whynot, or pick a defenseman later on in the draft and try to force him into the lineup right away when he's not ready, simply out of a perceived need to add 1 more young stud D to the current 3 guys we have.
I'd rather we draft the best players available, and if its forwards, so be it.
Then let's go grab a defenseman in the Import draft and fill the need that way. A Salda/Zboril/Stich would also be a nice way to round out the top 4 D, yes? If so, lets pick (Martin) Hugo "Boss" Has. No idea if he'd be interested in coming over or not. Probably depends on when he gets NHL drafted and by what team.
