Draft takes place June 8th at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City.
As of today, Moncton has 15 picks. No pick in the 5th and 12th round. Three picks in the 9th round.
Here are my first 5 selections:
3rd overall: Cameron Whynot - Defense - Valley 28th overall: Jacob Melanson - Forward - Weeks Midgets (Wishful thinking - He will be off the board by 28) 37th overall: Olivier Beaudoin - Defense - Ulysse Prep 64th overall: Luke Vardy - Defense - Dartmouth 91st overall: Samuel Johnson (2002) - Forward - College Notre Dame
Expect some of our 20s to be traded as well. Worst kept secret seems to be Capannelli being traded to Blainville. All I know is that we're getting one of the picks back that was sent to the Armada for Antallainen and Giguere. Could be a 2019 3rd round pick or a 2020 2nd round pick.
I just don't see a situation where Christian Huntley is back unless there's a really good deal for Aspirot. As for Giguere and Seitz, just not sure if there's much of a market for them. Possibly a deal for a late round pick in 2021 (IE: 2020 10th rounder but it becomes a 2021 8th round pick if they play a certain number of games next season).
We will need to acquire a goaltender to share the workload with Lavallee. Some names that come to mind: Daniel Moody or Creed Jones. Cole MacLaren may be another option. He might not want to play behind Gravel for a 2nd straight season. He proved he's ready for a bigger role.

Just want to point out a few interesting tidbits from Stephane Paquette's article regarding the draft and Ritchie Thibeau's appearance on Rogers TV's Across The Line.
From Paquette's article:
1 - Interested in acquiring a higher 2nd round pick. Currently own the 28th overall selection. 2 - Paquette states he feel the 3rd overall pick will be a forward 3 - Focus on defensemen with their 2nd round and 3rd round picks 4 - No goaltender will be picked until the later rounds 5 - Moncton will pick twice in the Import Draft (30th and 90th). Picks will end up being higher as teams will pass.
From Across The Line:
Ritchie Thibeau was quoted as saying "We will see if Alexander Khovanov will be back".

Moncton should target a defenceman from Halifax or Rouyn Noranda and make a trade at the draft and bring in a good goaltender to share the load with lavalle , maybe they can get a good goalie in the Euro draft with their second pick.

I don't think either of those teams will be good dance partners for finding a defenseman. For Halifax, they have 5 '99 born D, Kyte, Flower, Sansfacon, Toner, and Chainey, and aside from Chainey who will likely play in the AHL, none are close to an upgrade on Aspirot. That leaves Barron, who has an NTC, and McIsaac... and from all indications Halifax intends to try to win a couple playoff rounds next year, so the price point on McIsaac would be way more than anyone would want to pay. For Rouyn, I imagine they start a rebuild next year, Justin Bergeron would be an amazing add, one of the most underrated players in the league, could run your PP, but would command a hefty price... Alexis Arsenault could be had for a reasonable price I imagine, but he's not an impact guy really. If I'm Moncton I'm looking elsewhere for defensive help. Samuel Bolduc(BLB), Leon Denny(SHA).... or the other possibility is going after Ortiz or Bouchard from the Drakkar, but either of those guys, especially Ortiz would be a big investment. Moncton is in a very interesting situation, some high end '99 talent, high end '01 talent, but aside from Huddy, basically no '00 talent.

Do we know if the Draft will be streamed online?
It should be a very interesting draft for the Cats. They have about 5 legitimate options to take with the 3rd pick.

Bolduc from blb would cost more than bouchard and might honestly cost more than ortiz

Bolduc from blb would cost more than bouchard and might honestly cost more than ortiz You're probably right. Definitely on Bouchard. I didn't mean to imply either of these options would be "cheap".

Fingers crossed that SJ has a deal with Reynolds and they pick him with their top pick If SJ had a deal with Reynolds it would likely be late 1st/early 2nd like Lawrence and Des Roches. Would be dumb to pass on Roy unless he was going NCAA.
