I am trying hard not to read to much into this picture but that sure is a nice shirt Jack William's is wearing to his brother's birthday party Maybe he borrowed it from Dawson Stairs Seriously tho I watched quite a bit of Williams when I was doing my research on Senna Peeters, he'd be a big get. A big enough get that I put in an anonymous call to the NCAA and sent them this picture, claiming the shirt was a "gift" from the team. His NCAA eligibility will soon be revoked and he will have to come play here.

Sj traded a 2022 5th (which could become a 3rd) for Olivier Desroches.
The team also traded Luke Wilson for the rights to Connor Mccluskey.

I haven't heard any reports of cuts being made so with the addition of Olivier Desroches and making a trade to bring McCCluskey over, I see the below defense still in camp. I don't know anything about Desroches. It looks like he played 56 games in the Q as a 16 year old but only played 19 as a 17 year old. Not sure if it was due to injury or depth chart.
Is he good enough to become one of out top 6 D ahead of guys like Spadafore, Musico, Kokouras?
One would believe our top 5 would look like this.
58 CHARLIE DESROCHES 54 JEREMIE POIRIER 13 WILLIAM VILLENEUVE 7 JOONA LEHMUS 22 KALE MCCALLUM
Defense still in camp 58 CHARLIE DESROCHES 54 JEREMIE POIRIER 45 JORDAN SPADAFORE 49 ELLIOT ST-PIERRE 13 WILLIAM VILLENEUVE 22 KALE MCCALLUM 48 PATRICK MUSICO 6 NICOLAS KAKOURAS 7 JOONA LEHMUS 46 CONNOR MCCLUSKEY Olivier Desroches

I thought they might give Charles Savoie a spot this year. It is probably better for his development to go back to MAAA o Jr wherever he is going to get alot of ice time but I thought he looked good the few times that I saw him.
Also with Bouthilier going to Leafs camp it gives them more time to decide on the 20 year olds.

He looked good but likely best for him to go back to Midget AAA and get top line and power play minutes.

Besides Charles Savoie returning to Midget AAA, the only other mild surprises for me were; 1) Keeping Mathias Savoie over Tommy DaSilva (at least while Bouthillier is away). I liked what I saw from DaSilva but I suspect that CEGEP factored into the decision. 2) Keeping two free agents (Badalamenti and Vander Voet) over Carson Gallant. IMHO, not much separated the three of them - but the team likely felt that Gallant needs more time in the MHL to adapt to the move to LW.
It will be interesting to see if the Sea Dogs get a player or two off waivers. Jack Tucker is one name I'll be watching for.

I know we are a team loaded on young talent but..... Anyone else find it a bit odd that we had the second worst record last year yet only one player from our most recent draft class could crack the lineup?
I guess I am not surprised and could see it coming based off all the NCAA gambles we took (which if there ever was a time to roll the dice it was this year) but I figured at least one guy other than Roy would sneak in, or TG would convince someone to give up NCAA eligibility and stay

I've heard nothing but good things about Savoie and thought he would probably make the team, but if he did how much ice time would he get? Would he often be a healthy scratch? It looks like we picked up a couple of older free agents to fill those roles while he continues his development at a lower level. One of the reasons the team finished with such a poor record last year was because it was the youngest teams in the CHL. This means that there would be lots of returning players, some of whom weren't able to make the team either. Stairs and Drover would have been full-time members of last year's team if not for the cap on 16-year olds so those are 2 spots that are spoken for. Belisle saw some action last year too and looked decent so there was a good possibility that he would make the team this year going into training camp. The 1st overall pick is pretty much guaranteed a roster spot. Not to mention the acquisition of Guay. There doesn't really appear to be a ton of opportunities for any other 16 year-olds (other than NCAA no-shows) to make the team with a significant role this year. It's also worth mentioning that none of last year's 20s were forwards, so all forwards were eligible to return this year, which is another reason why it would be hard to fit Savoie into the lineup in a meaningful role. If we get into injury trouble at some point (which is probably more a matter of "when" than "if") then I would hope that Savoie gets called up, especially if that should happen during a Quebec road trip.

I do agree with pretty much everything you said. To me its not a big deal. Just seemed a bit weird that on a team as bad as we were, with all the picks we had, only 1st overall Roy could crack the lineup. Beyond our top 4 young guys on D, the last 2 spots to start the year were wide open. On forward one could say its tight up there, but any draft pick basically only had to be as good, or close to as good, as say McIntosh, Jacob, White, Belisle, the 2 free agents, and whatever one of Poirier/Deakin-Poot that we keep. Not knocking any of those names but its not like any of them are superstar calibre that would be very difficult to knock out of their spot. A combo of those names will not only be filling your entire fourth line currently, but also the last 2 spots on the third line. Those would be meaningful minutes of ice time. Again I dont disagree with your post, or what the team did, but originally there were meaningful spots up for grabs....and seemingly nobody from that draft class was able to grab one. I found ity a bit odd/surprising/interesting.

If Roy and Savoie eventually are the only two players from this past draft are the only kids that play for the Dogs I will consider this draft a big disappointment. Even if Roy and Savoie turn out to be good players.
Historically guys that don’t report at 16 never show up.
